Why is McDonalds paying 18 dollars a hour in North Dakota? Unemployment is only3%.?
Imagine this all in spite of this Administrations over regulating with the EPA. Should everyone thank George Bush for this economic boom?

heart Why is McDonalds paying 18 dollars a hour in North Dakota ...
~ Taco bell had an ad out that a friend of mine saw... $15 an hour, STARTING. A LOT of businesses up there are practically begging people to come to ND.

~ It's a BOOM TOWN mentality going on up there due to the new fracking... They just don't have the infrastructure and hands-on to deal with all of the new growth.

~ Young men (and women) are heading up there in droves because there are many many jobs opening up for them.

I traveled through N. Dakota a few years ago and Pall Malls were still less then two bucks a pack. Never lived there, but I'd imagine the crime rate is very low due to the demographics.

You adapt and overcome. Friend of mine moved to Branson when it was booming. Lived in a Bus.

Right on the money BloodRed.

Baaken Shale! It's a boomtown. Real Estate has skyrocketed. In the town where my parents are from, you could buy a three bedroom home for $1,500 12 years ago. Now, you can rent it for $1,500 a month.

Workers are in high demand. Not just McDonalds, police are needed. With the boom and workers with money, drugs and prostitution have followed.

I'm pretty sure you can get $20 an hour at McDonalds up there.

Most people won't make it...in winter.

not sure if they advertise via craigslist, but here is a listing of general labor jobs in N. Dakota http://nd.craigslist.org/lab/

I personally wouldn't consider living there due to climate and the monotonous landscape, but it may appeal to some people from the east who are fed up with crime and want to make a quick buck

40 below is only SO bad... Until you factor in a 70MPH wind.. You dont just ADAPT to a wind chill of 80 below zero on a NORMAL winters day.

There is a REASON they call them BOOM towns.

If its THAT easy, why the hell aint ya there making a billion dollars an hour or whatever the fable is this week?

chuckle

Supply and demand. It's good to know that free market dynamics still function in remote places on earth.

I know right? That would just kick TOTAL ass.. Well.. you know.. If we lived in a nation that had anything even RESEMBLING a free market economy!

Of course.. I would never open a million dollar store that caters to the 10-15 guys dumb enough to live there.. But, hey thats just ME (and common sense!)...

Bet your ASS that the ONLY reason the McD's corporation does it is a part of the deal for the billion or so dollars they receive in welfare each and every year...

I clicked on one of the posts there and found this blog..which is directly applicable to N. Dakotas boom

OILFIELD LIFE: Musings from North Dakota on what is happening here and what isn't

Reality

Whenever I speak to someone who is interested in living or working in North Dakota, I always try to give them a strong dose of reality. The quality of life here may not meet their expectations. Simply put, researching the opportunities and weighing them against your standard of living is critical. There are three documented cases of people dying from cold exposure this winter; these were likely ill-equipped job seekers who came to North Dakota with no secure housing. I can't imagine a worse fate than freezing to death in my car.

It's true that the job market is flourishing in North Dakota, but so is homelessness. Do your research. Don't come here without secure housing.

You cant change the mind of a moron who HAS none bro....

I have been disabled for over a year now.. Not some playground bullshit here.... It would be easier for me to tell you what ISNT wrong with me. Work? LOL.. Shit man.. i work each second of my life just to breath and move around...

Acourding to most dumbasses that do thier "research" on CNN or FOX news, I am just living high on the hog! Eating lobster every day!

I get $710 a month. and $50 in food stamps.

EVERY large corporation they worship as God gets that much every SECOND in outright WELFARE that those corporations NEVER paid a dime into, and DONT deserve.. are not ENTITLED to. They fact that 9\10s of that outright WELFARE goes overseas... Many times to our sworn enemies? They couldnt care LESS, as long as them and their Wall St buddies get yet ANOTHER free handy job from me and my fellow Americans who actually paid INTO the damn system...
