Nevil Shute,s book So Disdained has a similar kind of outcome, its a remarkable read.

An old Chinese man living in Australia,s outback hundreds of miles from any town had the same affinity for all the wild creatures living around his dwelling, when he died hundreds of wild animals some predators to others all formed a circle around the outskirts of the clearing for three days in respect for this man who had spent the greater part of his life feeding and caring for them.

Words cannot quite explain how awesome this kind of event is
I think I am going to be kind of sad when it gets unpinned

It's a human mass consciousness interaction with the greater planetary consciousness and these types of gentlemen who died are nothing short of saints for their devotion to unconditional love

I always heard that an Elephant never forgets....Heartflowers

Myth Busters did a myth to see if elephants were really scared of mice...They are! The one elephant saw the mouse come out of a fake poop and he stoped and moved back kind of fast.

Is it fear or compassion to not hurt them?

This is the best post ever! I do some work with animals and have the ability to communicate with them. Hearing this story was such an affirmation of what's real in this world. Humans have been separated from their senses and intuition. We are the only ones who are lacking "common sense".

I can walk into a room and certain dogs know that I do Reiki/healing. They will come right up to me and ask for help. No one needs to tell them who I am. They know - esp if they need some help. The owners are usually mystified as to why Fido is so dang friendly and pesty all of a sudden. It takes very little to set a dog's soul free from suffering. They're much more willing than humans to move on.

I can't imagine a better passing than to have the animals gather and hold the energy for you as you're leaving this plane. (I believe animals heal us and help us. They often will sit in certain places in an effort to heal their people. They hold the energy and contribute to healing. They see a bigger range of the electromagnetic spectrum than we do. Cats see entities!) You can't pretend or lie with animals. They know who you are. It's the highest of compliments to be honored the way this man was by these elephants. I just ordered that book (Disdained) from Amazon. Thanks!

Zardoz you are so right, man prides himself with intelligence which ultimately is his demise.
Animals fit into nature in a given order, while mans destroys it in the name of progress.

humans have lost/forgot much of the heightened , natural senses animals still have

maybe it was a trade off when we got ego.....

I think our 'natural senses' wax and wane with the magnetosphere, which has been on the decrease significantly over the last couple thousand years.

That also means they'll be revving up again at some point.

I've always believed animals such as elephants, dolphins, whales and others, are as intelligent as we are. They exhibit emotions much like our own when one of them die. To go out and shoot one of these creatures should be as illegal as the murder of a human. Just because WE can't understand their language, doesn't make them a "dumb animal".

many animals do/are...been proven prairie dogs have a sort of communication
empathy , emotion, most have to look no further than family dog
ego ..just makes us think we are superior
when in fact seems they understand us more than we do them
dog understands what you tell it...do you understand when it barks??

These horses came to find out what was happening to these trees. Everything has consciousness here on Earth. The horses sensed this 'happening' and showed up.

We were much like the N'avi in Avatar once, I think. Maybe that's why it's such an emotional movie for many of us to watch. We feel that sense of loss and intuitively recognize what we once were - connected, tuned in to everything. Seeing the animals respond to humans like the Elephant whisperer and the Chinese man touch that too.

Since it's our true nature, we can reconnect too. Maybe that will be someone's mission - showing people how to reconnect with the planet, nature and themselves. The modern life is a bit less than satisfying. I can see it in people's hearts - they really thirst for what has been lost. They try to fill that hole in their soul in a myriad of ways without success. It only masks the pain of feeling separate from self and others.

Once beautiful forests with a rich biodiversity are now replaced by mono cultures of grass (mold) for domestic animal orphanages, its a hell of a compromise ,and some of these poor animals have little to no shelter against the elements, the SPCA need a rocket up their pants, as there,s little difference from human slavery to animal enslavement.
