If you really want to think about something all day, think of this. It's not impossible to roll a pair of dice 1 million times in a row and always get the same result. You will say at first, "Of course it is." However, if you were betting your life that it was impossible.... you're dead.

There is nothing stopping it from being that result each time. If each roll was completetly random (computer generated perhaps) so that no outside forces could interfere with the outcome, that roll could come out the same each time. What's stopping it? Now, if you change the phrasing to "Extremely improbable", you would win the bet and keep your life.

Over the years, Skippy, many men have counted on 'hedging their bets' in much the same way... if only this... if only that... I'd surely be a winner...

Of course, the wise man tries to steer away from gambling; in almost every case, winning is relative to just how much you spent to make that dollar. Never mind the odds...

I think Plato once said, "You've got to know when to hold 'em. Know when to fold 'em. Know when to walk away. Know when to run".

From the world's top 25 gambles:

http://www.pokerplayer.co.uk/sports-bett...mbles.html

Larger-than-life Australian media tycoon Kerry Packer has lived a life straight out of the pages of a Marvel comic book, but there's one story for which he'll always be remembered. Uncomfortable with the attention a stranger was receiving from a waitress at a casino, Packer turned to the stranger and asked why his presence was causing such a stir. The Texan gentleman replied that he was in the oil business and worth $100 million. 'Toss yer for it,' was Packer's historic reply. The oilman walked away.

Now, if you change the phrasing to "Extremely improbable", you would win the bet and keep your life.

It would be impossible to roll the dice as you describe. There is always something that will change from one time to another even if one is too slight of a change to make a difference sooner or later much before a million rolls it will be different. It just has to since if there is no difference in the roll then of course it would be the same every time forever. That would happen only in an improperly programmed computer or a fault so that the randomness is no longer there. Then you aren't rolling dice and aren't anymore random than a stuck machine.

Even picking up the dice would affect what came up. Then you have the wear on the dice themselves or the new dice would be ever so slightly different that the roll would change. It's not possible so that includes improbable along with perhaps and maybe if and anything else. It is impossible. There is absolutely no chance that you could lose your life betting against a million times.

There is a point somewhere that it becomes possible to roll the same dice a number of times of course as people bet on that but a million times! Come on, think of something else that is worthwhile maybe. How about are you saved after death or are you simply nothing or something else altogether?

Now that you've got me thinking about it …

• If you roll a pair of dice 1 million times in a row, you're guaranteed to get the same result every time: ....... the dice stop rolling. Every time.

• Can you roll a pair of dice a million times without losing or breaking one of them?

• If you have a pair of dice in a row, you have to pick them up to roll them. That means taking them out of the row. So no, you can't roll a pair of dice even once in a row.

• If you roll a pair of dice 1 million times in a row, you'll never get the same result twice. At the end of each roll, the number of rolls remaining will always be one less than it was as a result of the previous roll. So the resulting situation will change. Every time.

• What if you don't have a life? What if you're already dead, and your fate is to spend eternity trying to get the same result to occur for 1 million consecutive dice rolls?

• What if you do have a life, but nobody wants it?
