Let's just do this the easy way...DON'T buy the products these companies sell, until they stop this "illegal reselling of their products" crap.

Buy their competitor's products instead, and send them a letter telling them exactly why you didn't buy their miserable product in the first place.

Once the $$$ stops flowing in and these companies start feeling the pinch, maybe they'll stop messing with the American citizens' right to buy and sell legally purchased products as they choose.

So which corps are behind this?

RE: "You Been Owned" Federal Case
The Omega v. Costco thing is kinda interesting. Omega got pissed off at Costco for selling Omega watches at too low a price !!!

Right now they are still fighting this one out.

Costco won the trial case. Omega won the federal appeal case and appealed to the Supreme Court. The Supremes heard the case but split even, which threw it back to the appeals court, which is where it is at this moment.

Right now, foreign-purchased Omega's technically cannot be re-sold in the district of the appeals court only - which in this case means California, Arizona, Washington, Nevada, Hawaii, Oregon, Montana, Idaho, and Alaska.

BUT, if the law goes national, then that could mean that an Omega watch that you legally purchased from an authorized Omega dealer on your vacation in South America or Asia, would be Illegal for you to resell back home in America (at any price).

Which is completely insane.

And once it applies to watches, it will apply to every other kind of product you can think of.

the government is just mad because they aren't getting very much tax from the resale of stuff. the companies are mad because they can't make and sell the same product the next year in a different color for a higher amount. they've done such a smashing job on the drug war and internet piracy.

I bet that they are just seeking out limits, to see how far they can go.

Have you guys heard about this? Am I posting old crap or is this really under the radar like the person that sent it to me says??

Corporations have really lost their f*cking minds.

Quote:Do you really own the smartphone or computer you’re using to read this? If you sold your books, would you be breaking the law? A federal court in New York says you would be, even if you legally paid for and bought them.

It's unbelievable, but trademark and copyright holders really are trying to use a legal loophole to take away your right to sell things that you own: Please add your name at right to fight back.

Public interest advocates are taking the case all the way to the Supreme Court, and Demand Progress is joining up with a coalition of groups -- including many of those that came together to kill SOPA -- to support the rights of ordinary Internet users and everyday consumers.

We are working to defend a long-standing principle known as the "First-Sale Doctrine." This common-sense rule gives us the right to sell most property we own, but big businesses have been trying to chip away at out our rights in the courts. If the Supreme Court supports the lower court’s decision, we won't really “own” anything if any part of it was made in a different country. And practically anything you own -- from your iPod to your house -- could have been made abroad, in whole or in part.

We only have a few months to make our voices heard before the Supreme Court makes a lasting ruling. We are asking President Obama and the U.S. Department of Justice to stand up for the little guy: The President can urge the Court to side with consumers, but he'll only do it if we bring enough pressure to bare.

If we lose this fight, practically anybody who wants to resell products they bought -- from Macbooks and iPhones to our clothing and textbooks -- will have to ask copyright holders for permission first. And they'll have the right to deny it!

It's bad for so many reasons: It'll undermine Craigslist and Ebay, hurt the environment, increase incentives for manufacturers to move jobs off-shore, and effectively ban the traditional American yard sale. For more info, please check out Marvin Ammori's article about the lawsuit.

This makes me rage so much Balqoboq

I heard about this too OP probably from Rivero's site like another poster stated.

You know.....this is so outrageous to me....upon outrage...that when this old beloved PC finally breaks I'm not replacing it and am going to swallow the blue pill and just plant flowers and shovel snow and watch FoxNews.
