Zombies
ok... so the hub and i are watching a show about zombies...

when the question came up why zombies eat the living

my take answer was:

zombies have no souls and therefore need the souls of the living to survive/function so they eat the living even if the living souls are absorbed and disperse therefore perpetuating the cycle.. (like eating chinese food you are hungry an hour later Wink )

my husband poo-pooed it..

but if you have to shoot the head (pineal gland) then that is (?) the seat of the souls consciousness...

and on a deeper level is the whole zombie fascination
at this time reflective of the nation(s) consciousness having no soul?

RE: Zombies
I am not sure. In the book "Cell" by Stephen King, the Zombies had a consciousness. A calling if you will.

Same with the Happening by M knight Shamalyan.

And most certainly with I Am Legend.

chuckle

I really don't know much about zombies aside from what the movies taught me...having never come across one myself IRL.

My hope is that it's more like Shaun of the Dead. Lmao

Zombies
First published Mon Sep 8, 2003; substantive revision Thu Mar 17, 2011

Zombies in philosophy are imaginary creatures used to illuminate problems about consciousness and its relation to the physical world. Unlike those in films or witchraft, they are exactly like us in all physical respects but without conscious experiences: by definition there is ‘nothing it is like’ to be a zombie. Yet zombies behave just like us, and some even spend a lot of time discussing consciousness.

Few people think zombies actually exist. But many hold they are at least conceivable, and some that they are possible. It is argued that if zombies are so much as a bare possibility, then physicalism is false and some kind of dualism is true. For many philosophers that is the chief importance of the zombie idea. But the idea is also of interest for its presuppositions about the nature of consciousness and how the physical and the phenomenal are related. Use of the zombie idea against physicalism also raises more general questions about relations between imaginability, conceivability, and possibility. Finally, zombies raise epistemological difficulties: they reinstate the ‘other minds’ problem.

1. The idea of zombies
2. Zombies and physicalism
3. The conceivability argument
4. Are zombies conceivable?
4.1 Arguments for
4.2 Arguments against
5. Does conceivability entail possibility?
5.1 Objections based on a posteriori necessity
5.2 The phenomenal concept strategy
5.3 Russellian monism
5.4 Other objections
6. Other issues
6.1 Mental causation
6.2 The function of consciousness
6.3 Other minds
7. Conclusion

There are times when I get the feeling the whole zombie meme is nothing but an inside joke for the overseers. Zombies simply being used as a symbol of the masses. They are not so much the undead, but rather the unliving, which I feel is a quite accurate description of the masses. There is nothing "lively" about most of them, just brain dead unliving zombies operating on the base primal survival instinct of the species.
Morality be damned.

Or I could just be really f*cking stoned.
Either way.

RE: Zombies
I like zombie movies, I collect them and have MANY. Humans are always hilarious, but they are even funnier when being zombie.

My take on zombie humans is: mad human disease. It's a progressive disease and I think most everyone should have been infected by now. It was in the meat. Cheer One day everyone is going to suddenly snap and turn zombie all at the same time. My guess is when the oil, money, and food stop flowing. Next spring at the latest. People are already becoming dysfunctional, zombie disease is the actual cause of high unemployment (the ones that have been unemployed the longest have become the most zombie, notice that?). Now the fuku radiation will only make it worse. Seriously, zombie day will come, it does to every civilization that has become corrupt and delusional.
