Everyone  Wrote:

OP never came back, seriously and she had waited HOURS and still had not gone to the doctor, she seriously could be dead. Everyone told her so then even after we told her she used a hot compress to knock the clot loose so it could travel to her brain.

She is probably a Darwin Award Winner now I'm afraid to say.

You may be damaged, I'm sorry to say.

Oh I'm not really that heartless I was hoping it would piss her off and she would post I am actually hoping she is ok.

I had several in my calf from an injury. I never went to the doctor but it took a year for them to eventually go away.

If I was smarter back then I would have gone to the doctor, but I'm phobic of doctors.

Me too except in this case. The warm compression is a stop gap and I would do that until you can get to a doctor but please do go.
I've seen what happens when clots travelTissue
Oh and if he/she wants you on plavix, have a platlet test run.Low platelets ask for an alternative.Heartflowers

Yep ,thats why a clot there can travel so quickly.

RE: anyone ever had a blood clot in the thigh?
No, but I developed a varicose vein in my calf after my pregnancy with my son and I ended up with a blood clot. Because it was a peripheral vein and not deep, they just had me take aspirin, saying it wasn't a big deal (even though it hurt when I walked). Deep veins are much more serious and thin as well as heavy people can get them. If you normally have sticky blood, it's common for Drs to put you on aspirin therapy for that purpose or a long car/plane ride could be your last.

RE: anyone ever had a blood clot in the thigh?
everyone, im fine.
i have been gardening and doing chores and running errands.

i originally had sciatica in the same leg, the left side.
it STILL hasnt gone away after a MONTH.
feels like im dragging a two hundred pound leg around half the time.
it even falls asleep from hip to toes when i walk!

i cant figure out which position might be pinching the nerve.
then this past week the left inner thigh began to burn terribly in one spot like there is a clot.
i looked it up and other than it turning purple all of the symptoms are the same.
so the alleve worked to make that pain go away.
its been what? 3/4 days now?

i didnt even FEEL the sciatica when the thing burned.
that is so odd when i think about it.
i am HOPING it wasnt really a clot and maybe something else.... and thats why i wrote here, to see if anyone had had one before.

now everyone tells me im gonna DIE if i dont go to the E freaking R!
talk about someones blood pressure going up!

no i dont think headaches are clots
i have WONDERED if they were and just not big enough to kill U.

i got very upset yesterday after reading all the replies.
so upset that i woke up with a damn COLD this morning.
i havent had one in 4 years!

so when the drs office opens ill call and make an appt.
theres just too many replies i wasnt expecting, at all.

but if he tells me ill have to take meds for the rest of my life, i wont.
thats a business.

I am glad that you are going and getting it checked out. Despite what I said I really hope you end up being just fine. Maybe a pinched nerve in your back is causing this pain in your legs? Is that what sciatica is?

RE: anyone ever had a blood clot in the thigh?
I have spent nearly a whole year suffering from extreme sciatica pain (piriformis syndrome) and while it will certainly cause numbness, pain, spasms and phantom sensations from hip to toe it never caused pain on the inside of the thigh.

If you have no swelling in your calf or foot you may not have a bloodclot, but for heavenssake get it checked out! At the least you may find out the root cause of your sciatica (spine or musculature impingement) and get it cared for. Hopefully it won't be the piriformis muscle because that one is difficult to treat, but you will still know for sure.

I hate doctors with a passion but since my past history with this circulatory problem I wouldn't hesitate to go to one if I thought I had it again.

RE: anyone ever had a blood clot in the thigh?
to update this thread...

the leg pain went away.
a few days later the pain returned but closer up near my groin.
i thought it had moved and got stuck again.
well that area was painful for only a couple of days.

then the pain in my lung began.
i thought holy HELL! this thing is reached my lungs and now its gonna hit my brain.
the breathing part was hard.
i went to the er the next day told them i thought it might be a clot that had moved from my leg to my lung.
they gave me a CT scan.
it made me feel like i was in a microwave heating up from the inside.

the xrays showed i had pneumonia spot so that is what i was treated for.
he said he didnt see any clot on the CT and it would show if a clot had moved or was still there.
so i got antibiotics and have felt fine since.

all is well in my body now.the pneumonia is gone, no pains anywhere.
this is to put the thread to rest with a real happy ending.
