Yeah, my own view on that is it's partially genocidal, partially to instill fear of high technology, but those are just hunches.
The contemptuous utter lack or transparency and the general acceptance of that bothers me most.
We should at a minimum have much more radiation monitoring including cheap hand-helds to use at the grocery store and hardware stores etc.
Some people have bought geiger counters and similar devices, but I can't afford one, and most people can't, and it's hard to know what to buy and if the device is any good.
An analogous problem: cell towers. I'm not satisfied with the "musn't heat the flesh" safety standard set for non-ionizing radiation by the FCC. I have a tower near my house. I want to measure the fields put off by this thing, so at the very least I can file suit if they are out of compliance with the useless standard.
So I looked into it. I want a meter that has industry acceptance. I don't want to buy a trifield gauss meter sold off "ghostbuster" web sites.
I want something like a FLUKE. My automotive fluke was $500, I can't afford that to bust tower violators.
Looks like NARDA is the industry leader in trifield gauss meters. That would be the one I want so nobody can poo-pooh my data.
They are $3500, and the closest place to get one is a rental house in Texas.
Off-topic, but I never had the motivation to follow through on that, and there is no testing of these things, no mandate for it. They only have to submit the engineering plan, can pump up the power without anybody knowing.

We start to see how lonely this subject becomes with regards to:
cognitive dissonance-
A Simple Pattern of Cognitive Dissonance:
one desires something,
finds it unattainable,
and reduces one's dissonance by criticizing it.
the recent study that has been done that people would rather believe a lie-
Ignorance is Bliss When it Comes to Challenging Social Issues
By remaining unaware, people can justify trusting government, study finds
WASHINGTON—The less people know about important complex issues such as the economy, energy consumption and the environment, the more they want to avoid becoming well-informed, according to new research published by the American Psychological Association.
And the more urgent the issue, the more people want to remain unaware, according to a paper published online in APA’s Journal of Personality and Social Psychology®.
“These studies were designed to help understand the so-called ‘ignorance is bliss’ approach to social issues,” said author Steven Shepherd, a graduate student with the University of Waterloo in Ontario. “The findings can assist educators in addressing significant barriers to getting people involved and engaged in social issues.”
Through a series of five studies conducted in 2010 and 2011 with 511 adults in the United States and Canada, the researchers described “a chain reaction from ignorance about a subject to dependence on and trust in the government to deal with the issue.”http://www.apa.org/news/press/releases/2011/11/ignorance.aspx
and the general dumbing down of the public at large.

Not off topic at all.
The information we can garner from our research brings consensus that has value.
"A theory is an idea that can be tested with fairly consistent results,
but which cannot be absolutely proven."
"Some of our most treasured mathematical concepts that are put to use every day still remain theories.
A reasoned opinion is often called a hypothesis. This kind of idea can be tested,
and the tests determine whether it becomes a failed hypothesis or a new theory.
A wild guess, on the other hand, cannot even be tested,
but if enough people like the idea a lot they may use it to interpret certain experiences without any real evidence,
and they may go so far as to call it a theory when it isn't.
A couple examples of very popular wild guesses that go by the name of theories are -
the 'Big Bang Theory' and the 'Theory of Evolution'."

Let us go with simple logic that transcends local authority.
I give you a simple dialogue to consider for your approval-
The people of the world gravely announce,
"People of Japan, you had a natural catastrophe that has cascaded upon your energy infrastructure that has cascaded into our environment in an unprecedented way.
That being said, this event is not only your local responsibility but has infringed upon all of us globally.
Therefore it is your due diligence presently to allow the best minds on Earth to aid your local dilemma from becoming a catastrophic disaster upon the whole planet.
There is no time for debate, the balance of humanity dictates the people of Japan comply with total acceptance of this aid immediately."
The people of Japan humbly respond,
"___________________________________________________."

I don't know the answer, but we should OCCUPY to get our governments to insist on helping.

We occupy other nations just on the suspicion that they are working with nuclear material. We threaten and start wars over this.
But when a country is actually threatening us with nuclear material--we do nothing--here is your conspiracy.

The USS Reagan was there off the coast and got hit by fallout, Clinton made treaties soon after.

RE: ***breaking*** .... this senators report from fukishima is not good, i pray people..
Let us go into the wayback machine-
Iraqi troops invade Kuwait
At 1.00 am, 2 August 1990, over 100,000 Iraqi soldiers with almost 2,000 tanks launched an attack on Kuwait. The invasion plan was competent and effective. The Republican Guard led the attack on Kuwait City in concert with a Special Forces division. Elsewhere in Kuwait, helicopters landed troops at strategic sites. Within 12 hours, the bulk of the resistance had been extinguished and the royal family had fled to Saudi Arabia. Kuwait’s political miscalculation had proved to be nothing short of disastrous, despite some heroic fighting from elements of the Kuwaiti armed forces, and now Kuwait and all its wealth belonged to Saddam Hussein.
The international reaction was one of complete surprise.
The failure of Saddam to evacuate Iraqi forces from Kuwait by the stroke of midnight (GMT) 15 January 1991 led to the execution of one of the most technologically sophisticated military campaigns in human history: Operation Desert Storm.
http://www.ospreypublishing.com/articles..._2_august/
The above led to Iraqi forces to set ablaze Kuwait oil fields; in return the best oil fire fighter teams were mustered from around the globe to extinguish one of the most heinous acts of environmental terrorism the world, at that time, had known.
Fast response when it comes to "oil"...hmmm...
...with no response when it comes to a MOX catastrophe of a magnitude unknown to the modern world.
Conspiracy in our face.
