caffeine......you can break the chain
No........I am not done drinking coffee. But I reverted back to my original coffee experience. That of a treat to have sometimes......SOMETIMES!!!! Coffee was amazing back when it was this magical substance I would drink roughly once a week, maybe twice a week. Somewhere down the road I became an every morning drinker just like you. Wake up and walk right to the kitchen and start a pot of coffee, before I even peed. First thing I did. I would like you fall into that trap of feeling bored at midday and resorting to 2 cups of coffee to wake up.

AnywaysI didn't plan ahead of time to break my coffee chain but it just sorta happened. I was at a really nice herbal store with my grilfriend and I decided to grab a bunch of herbs. I grabbed Gotu Kola, Yerba mate, dandelion root tea, bushmen's tea, horsetail leaves, valerian, hibbiscus, echinacea, catnip and chamomile....I got all these herbs home and the next morning I woke up and decided to try some gotu kola tea. Suddenly at midday I found myself wanting to try yerba mate. Next thing you know i'm taking in quite a variety of hot teas. Not alot of tea just alot of variety. I did feel mild caffeine withdrawl symptoms, a headache that persisted through anything I tried to remedy it with. But the symptoms went away and I just saw coffee as just another herb in my herb bag. I stopped the chain 4 weeks ago. Ive had 2 cups of coffee since and both were on Saturdays. I feel like Saturday is a great day to drink coffee. I don't feel like "relapsing" because I have a variety of teas that satisfy me.

Ive heard the expression "variety is the spice of life". They are so right. You can't become too emotionally invested in substances. You need variety in life. There is more out there than just coffee. Look around. Remember, caffeine is addictive and they know this and they dont want you to find other substances because they know they cant make as much money. So naturally coffee will dominate. Dont be a victim. Dont spend your whole life 365 days a year slurping 2-6 cups a day. Find a system of variety.

I have discovered hot teas this year as well. It has helped me with weight loss! I try to drink a cup of tea before meals. I agree that there are so many different varieties to enjoy and I can't wait to try them all!

I have found the key to a happy life is moderation. Over indulgence in anything, a behavior, a food, an emotion is bound to bring trouble and bondage to it.

RE: caffeine......you can break the chain
I've been riding the Vivian Horse for about 15 years now, I average 400-600mgs of caffeine M-F and about 100-200mgs on the weekend.

My job is not demanding, 8-4:30pm office job. I got in the habit of popping 200 mgs before a workout (I usually go to the gym during lunch hour)
If I've ever been off of it, its been for 1-2 months at a time, maybe maybe 2-3 times in the last 15 years. (I'm 35) I have recently (within the last week) been trying to wean myself off. Only taking 50mgs in the morning, 100mgs at lunch for my workout, 50-100mgs around 5pm for my evening workout/walk.
I'd like to get off the shit someday because I fear that my adrenal glands are prob. getting tweeked.

Just so you can convert: 8 oz cup of coffee has about 133-160mgs of caffeine.

Coffee actually weakens the heart muscles.

If society fell apart, we - the people would build a new one. Most people are good at their core, and when we see things that are wrong we work to fix them together. Make friends with your neighbors, get involved with your community - because we will rebuild our lives, our communities, from horrible circumstances we always will.

Quit cold turkey or 1 week. That's all you need. Just beware of the headaches, they're a b*tch.

RE: caffeine......you can break the chain
No doubt, I drank coffee every day, multiple times a day, and it was not good business at all for my body. I did a thread on it, but ACV has helped me kick the habbit (apple cider vinegar) it gives you a bit of an energy boost (not as much as caffeine though) and helps your body feel better so you don't feel like the ass-end of what the cat drug in the next morning. For me that was really key, without feeling uber shitty in the morning, I had far less desire for coffee.

But yes, moderation is always key, coffee once in a while is fine I'm sure. But all the time is bad, especially for Americans as many of us like to fru fru the damn thing and put all kinds of sugar and dairy products in it. If you can drink it mostly black, you can probably drink it more often without it being such a negative to your health. Good post OP!

Water is good for you, but too much of it can lead to toxicity shock. The last Coffee I can say I had was early Sunday morning. The high temps and humidity just make me crave for something more refreshing like Orange or Water.

Coffee is more of a winter drink imho.

Jptdknpa

You should probably not talk about addiction as if you're an expert if coffee is the worst thing you've ever been hooked on.

Two aspirin or ibuprofin and you're "withdrawals" are over. Period.
