I use them mainly on my oil filter canisters in the hopes of attracting the microns the filter doesn't.

Good idea. Most drain plugs back in the day were a bit magnetic.

They are strong.

Do not get your fingers between two of them, you could come up short handed.

I got really tired of waiting at traffic lights because the sensor did not "see" my bike, so I stuck a couple of hard drive magnets on my oil filter and that made a big difference.

Also it traps any loose metal dust floating around in the oil.

somebody was telling me they had good success with magnetizing water using Neo dymium magnets.

So I was looking at various sites that sell magnets, and I came across some old used hard drive magnets on eBay for real cheap. I think I may just pick those up for the magnetizing water experiment
