No really...if you really want to donate money and have it help people just find local organizations that provide services to people directly (homeless shelters, women's shelters, etc). Donating to a "business charity" is bad news...might as well just go hand out money or sandwiches on the street.

because there are many here on the board struggling financially and putting up a thread about how you are going to give money away to strangers hits a little too hard to home, and makes you sound a bit pretentious to some?

Dunno...could be!!

If I had a lot of money I wanted to put to good use, I would not look to give it to a charity, I would spend it on something more real that I was sure would go to the people I wanted to help, rather than a non-profit with a CEO making the big bux.

Order of the Green Cross helps people directly.
