This is a good idea, lots of good people struggles at Christmas especially those with children. Going down to your local store and paying off some debt for those that are really struggling to provide for their kids is very honourable.

Donate to small local charities, don't give to the big ones where retired industry people and trust funders rake in six figures. Biggest bang for the buck might be some of the ones that pickup left over food and distribute it. Local free clinics can also be a good thing.

Organization to donate too? Food was delivered to Haiti airport by organizations and the citizens had to eat leaves and mud to survive, because it was to dangerous to distribut the food. Similar stuff with Katrina.

Are you saying you need to find someone to distribute your gift and give the organization a cut of it?

Are there no people in your area that need a helping hand?

An old lady who needs her house paid off?

A single mother who needs a gas gift card or free rent for a month or so?

Someone who can't afford a prescription?

Gifts of money are meaningless unless you experience your gift to another person and see how it changes their life.

most charities do the exact opposite of what they claim, even the good ones here in the usa only by law actually use I believe 17% of donations for the alleged cause.

My advice, see someone in need, help them personally.

Be the mystery santa this year going around passing out cash, help a struggling family etc.

I am a poor lucky folk, but got no idea how to use any $ if I had it, used to have a couple brick and mortar retail shops but the eco-no>me
just isnt for folks like me it seems these days, only a select few setting on thier asses designing shoes etc selling Chinese crap.
