I think he means that the old rules, the old ways of thinking, no longer apply. Mass groupthink will become increasingly irrelevant.

My partner and I were just discussing this topic last night. As hard as it is to occupy the position of conspiracy theorist, with all the wondering, thinking, uncertainty, and never really feeling like you know anything, I think any of us would be better prepared to think through a crisis (of almost any sort) than the general (asleep) population.
