No matter where you go in these type forms,the true nature of man comes out ..

You would think that a higher informed intelligence would exist ..

An exchange of ideas and information,a place where the normal is abnormal ..

And the posters are more interested in good intellectual interaction ..

One thing I have found here as in the other form,is the pure stupidity and ignorance of man ..

As he shoots his mouth off on a computer screen with out wisdom or knowledge ...(and in the case of the WRT ..hatred and cruelty)

I feel that the good out weighs the bad,here and in the world ..

But it is sad ....

I feel the very thing that separates this place also keeps it down(as anywhere else) the ugliness of it's posters ..

And because of that,this place and the other will never rise above anything but ....normal and ordinary .

So were on the same page, you and i both know our hobbies are a dying art, and you and i both know which is more common. i have been able to talk to people quite regularly in the UK, Cali, Leeward Islands and Brazil using that radio, and a home made dipole setup inverted vee.

Me likes the 500 but ill keep my 99.

I have CB equipment and a handful of scanners, CB and a mobile scanner mounted in my vehicle. Going to get into HAM sometime soon if I find the time.

Up at the family land (100's of acres), we have numerous old surplus TA-312's at various LP/OP's throughout the land and got a bit crafty with the conduit used to run the wire to them and some pelican cases to keep them and the extra D batteries stored with each safe from the elements. At the main house is a SB-22A switchboard. Probably about as secure as can be for comm's IMO.

I only helped set things up, I lack the bankroll to do 90% of the stuff my family has. I have some family who had a huge amount of land for hunting and recreation before things started turning downhill. Since then they've built various outbuildings, additional small cabins for family to live in if needed and I've helped out setup solar power and solar heating. Fortunately they have money and a significant love of firearms so if SHTF I'll be meeting up with the rest of my family
