so, after 7 years, im looking for a job... available. LOTS!
So, why so much unemployment? Is it bc welfare and unemployment checks are so easy to get people decide to ride it out as long as they can until the checks stop? Kinda like a "you owe me for busting my ass, now I'm not gonna do shit" type mentality? When did this happen?
Just curious... Anyone else
On here looking for a job too?

Yeah, where are all these jobs? I have put out over 3000 resumes and apps in the past three years, and have not had a SINGLE sit down interview.

After having 3 years experience in a job that requires none I applied at over 50 places and went to three interviews. Get real. There is overcrowding in every single low paying job. There are a lot of scams and a shitload of datamining going on too.

Job boards, newspapers, hiring events.
I'm not bashing, please don't take my post the wrong way. I'm going more along the lines of "what happened to the people in this day and age."

I've submit my resume and had interviews a couple dozen times in the past two years being fed-up in my current position. I'd guess around 10 instances I made it a far along the selection process and went into offer negotiations a half a dozen times which were pointless because they were all willing to pay what was an entry level wage for a role like IT helpdesk for a position that was senior level in a specialized sector of the industry.
Employers want the world and are willing to pay peanuts. Unfortunately, there are people willing to deliver mediocre results for peanuts and the employers are satisfied.

Probably should have waited until you got hired to post this.
There are lots of job ads here too.
Haven't gotten an interview yet.
Last time I did interview for a job. it was about a month between the application and the interview.

I can understand that. I'm directing my question more towards the people who are riding the system, perfectly capable of employment however choosing not to look... Giving up in a way.

Probably taking forever to go through applicants. I've done queries on our HR database for shit jobs we have open up. One recently was a part time receptionist opening that would average around 16 hours a week at $8 an hour. This is in a part of my state that isn't very populated, at least nowhere near the Madison or Milwaukee area populations. There were almost 600 applicants during the few days the listing was posted before they took it down. That's just insane.

I've been trying to figure that out with my ex-wife for two years now, though she isn't getting unemployment because they contested it and she didn't put up a fight. She was going to school to reinvent herself but I don't think that's in process anymore either.

My last three jobs I just looked up craigslist, dressed appropriately and went in for an interview. I was hired on the spot 3 times.
You just have to move fast and strike while the iron is hot. And be willing to work.
