They are Southern Baptists. When they send their own children off to war against Muslims they think they are doing the work of the Lord. They are so brainwashed by their backwards culture you will never get through to them. They are cult members.

I wouldn't either. I am from South Carolina and I'm not a whacked out Southern Baptist.

~ You're not a Clemson fan, though, either, are you sis?? ;)

Nope, I don't follow sports. My husband is a USC grad, but he doesn't really care one way or another. I am sitting here wearing a Gamecocks sweatshirt, which was a gift years ago to the hubby. He gave it to me just to keep warm, when I feel chilly. College sports, or any sports "rivalry" is just, IMO, a joke and a distraction. (not "f*ck off" flowers)

~ LOL... (I know they're not; nor are mine)... You know 'the type' that I'm talking about, though, right? The biggest 'dirty secret' of SC is that they're an aggie school... of course, you wouldn't know it by the fans' bluster and arrogance (kinda the point I'm making about those debate plants... a lot of hip hip hooray for THEIR version of the American Way...).
~ I've got a friend who lives on Foley and we've had our share of those boys pestering us. UGH. =P

RE: the debate
I grew up as a Game__cock fan when John Roche and Kevin Joyce were stars under Frank McGuire at USC. I also have several family members that graduated from USC. I have many stories of SC.

As I mentioned on another thread, if you want to understand the mindset there, check out Joe Bageant's essay "Revenge of the Mutt People".

RE: the debate
I used to be a avid to rabid sports fan of many sports.
Then one day it hit me.
It was completely pointless and why should I make an emotional investment in some thing I had no control over.
I don't watch or fanatically follow sport anymore. It was wasting my life and making me unhappy if my teams lost.
Why should a person make am emotional investment in something that doesn't make one in you?
I know people that almost live and die by the results of their sports team, and they personally can't effect the outcome by their support but they do make a lot of money for their team by supporting them and their merchandise.
When was the last time a multi million dollar sports player made the world a better place?

~ Now now, don't get huffy Tiger lol ;) ... It's like they say about UT people around here (Sequoia Hills, esp.); the 'boosters', it's older money, it came from an older source ( ... ), and an older more conservative mind-set, one where it's their way or the run-y'all-out-of-town-don't-let-the-sun-go-down-on... dot dot dot. The 'my country right or wrong', and they're so used to standing behind it during all the wrong that they feel that they have a right to insinuate that arrogant ignorance into our country's view of foreign policy, even though in the long run, you and I and many many others see -exactly- where it's taken us and is continuing to do so.
~ People around these parts of Tennessee like new-fangled ideas less than, say, those in Nashville (in general). To every current, there are also backwaters and tidepools. Dirty Socksville TN is such a one, here, just like Clemson is in SC.
~ That all being said, yes, I realize that it is a crappy generalization, and hardly founded on anything after all, so I should retract that... BUT LORD KNOWS, I CAN EDIT MY ORIGINAL STATEMENT, BUT NOT YOUR ^^ QUOTE OF IT!! TOO LATE NOW!! lololol =P
