RE: the internet has changed mankind forever..we have never communicated like this before
I have observed that while at times a useful tool for sharing information, much of the social interaction is less kind. Because there is a screen to hide behind, people often act as they would not dare to in 'real life'. Yesterday the idea came to me that a good part of the internet is that much like a nudist colony strips us of judging people by 'fashion' or 'style', the internet has the potential to allow us to meet people based on personality, without judging based on appearance/economic status/etc. I suppose this view straight into a persona is the very same reason we do see the unkindness, but it saddens me to think there are really so many people who really and truly are mean in this world.

i see the beginnings of a force, we are pretty far behind the connected evil forces, but we are working on it.

...exactly, thats why we are still learning, as we learn to interact properly with each other, we will become better people, this interacting stuff is very new to humans, .... we traditionally communicate on a much smaller scale, we had our circle or cliks, this is bigger, this is more diversified, this will take practice to get good at !

I don't care about China or India or Africa.

In fact, I am annoyed that you thrust them into my face
and force me to listen
when they have nothing to do with me.

quote ....:

Conclusion

Online communication is a new phenomenon, having first come into existence toward the end of the 20th century. It is growing at one of the fastest rates of any new form of communication in human history, and its long-term impact is expected to be substantial. A not uncommon, and, in my eyes, justifiable, view is that online communication represents the most important development in human communication and cognition since the development of the printing press (Harnad, 1991).

RE: the internet has changed mankind forever..we have never communicated like this before
...And the world ended.

The old world that is.

But IP was always an informational honeypot, both hats white and balck feel they can steer the bears whos hands go into the pot. But in setting up a honeypot to catch baby bears, you had better know 1: How many bears, and 2: How strong each bear is.

Because the moment comes when the bears try to withdraw their hands from the stickiness of the yummy informations on Ye Internetes. And then there will be paws covered in honey, difficult to remove.

But paws covered in honey, and surrounded by shitty agents with tranquilizer guns, could be in for one hell of a brawl. My vote and wages wagered, are on the bears, this generation of bear cubs who will defend the IP network of truth as if it were their momma herself. Because in a way, IP and HTML are the mothers of these bear cubs typing on Ye Internetes of today. I say, don't rile them up too much, or the last vestiges of the old world will be crushed and devoured.

Really, the old world knows not, how strong the baby bears are today, and how easily all beliefs of the old world, can be snipped with one sharp claw, to then fall into the river and be swept downstream, never more to be valued, considered, or contemplated.

RE: the internet has changed mankind forever..we have never communicated like this before
Quote:To hear people talk about it, you’d think we were building a temple – and maybe therein lies the ultimate point of consensus for which all of us are grasping. There’s something else taking shape here, an angel through the noise…in the midst and mix, a meta-agreement occurs. We may not agree on the nature or potential of cyberspace, but we all recognize its intrinsic value as a medium of (transnational and transpersonal) connection – and maybe that is the first idea that seven billion egoic agendas can get behind. “What’s good for cyberspace?” might be the question that saves the human species.

INTERNET RISING's diverse sources and solid talking points make for a fittingly webby presentation, many-faceted and open-ended like the Pandora’s box this topic is. It’s a film suitable for compassionate mockery by time capsule archeologists in fifty years, wondering how wise and unsuspecting we were before the Great Awakening
