I've been a carpenter for 15 years, always working for other contractors. today i'm going out into the world to purchase contractor's insurance and my business license. i already have an accountant lined up, and a crew of me, plus two other guys(one of which will be a co owner) and a few jobs in the works. i'm really nervous about all of this, and hope it works.

My brother finally struck out on his own in carpentry (well, him and another guy) and he's doing really good in it.

My brother also went out on his own and was so busy he rarely had time off. So make that part of your plan...how to maintain time off cause you'll be so busy.

He also acted as Project Manager sometimes. You know how you need to organize to make sure the trim guy doesn't come before the carpet guy and the painter better be there first? LOL
