You guys really were taking pre middle age as anything but a conjecture? There was virtually no evidence presented that any of this stuff occured the way it was described and no proof their dating methods were accurate. I took basically everything before the Joan of Arc / Magna Carta / Guttenburg as folk legends based on less than 1% of what was really going on.

Why they were wrong was the pure arrogance of their certainty.

What I know is from the movie Cleopatra, the one with Liz Taylor. I liked her better in Butterfield 8. Taylor that is.

American students don't always learn the history of the Middle Ages very well.

Student Prize Bloopers

This is a compilation of student bloopers collected by American teachers from 8th grade through college.
snippets:

Joan of Arc was burnt to a steak and was cannonized by Bernard Shaw. Finally Magna Carta provided that no man should be hanged twice for the same offense. In midevil times most people were alliterate. The greatest writer of the futile ages was Chaucer, who wrote many poems and verses and also wrote literature. Another story was William Tell, who shot an arrow through an apple while standing on his son’s head. Queen Elizabeth was the "Virgin Queen." As a queen she was a success.

When she exposed herself before her troops they all shouted "hurrah."

It was an age of great inventions and discoveries. Gutenberg invented removable type and the Bible. Another important invention was the circulation of blood. Sir Walter Raleigh is a historical figure because he invented cigarettes and started smoking. And Sir Francis Drake circumcised the world with a 100 foot clipper.

I'm not sure, but when my boys start school (online) on Tuesday they both happen to be taking World History this year, I'll be sure to check out that section when it comes up.

first off, world history teachers teach you NOTHING about Cleopatra

second, she died in 33 BC, not 30 or 31 BC, the richest person (male or female) in the entire world (thanks to Egyptian corn and cotton), and that's why Rome wanted to get their hands on Egypt in the first place.

people like to say history is written by the victors, but these days we have history written by dumb shits ONLINE.

there is no "middle ages" reference to Cleopatra's timeline, where the hell did you get that? Cleopatra lived in ancient times, the middle ages didn't come until a full 1200 years later.

Cleopatra's primary biographer was PTOLEMY (google that), the most respected and truthful biographer of ancient times.

she didn't abolish slavery, but she lifted many restrictions on slaves, and made their lives much more tolerable.

are you taking anything you can't find online as pre-middle age conjecture.

well, if that's the case, we might as well discount all history and start posting shit about aliens, fake moon landings, and Benjamin Franklin as a colonial pervert....

.... Ttpcmasm oh wait....

surely, there is some truth that can sustain itself over centuries, unless you are so depressed and in need of meds that you want to throw everything that has happened prior to your own little life crisis that spans 20-40 years.

yeah, nothing is real unless you are there to witness it personally.
