Tobacco use costs 6 million lives worldwide, $1 trillion annually, report says

Smoking kills about 6 million people a year and costs the world more than $1 trillion a year in health care expenses and lost productivity, a new report says. But billions of dollars and millions of lives could be saved through higher tobacco prices and taxes, according to the report from the World Health Organization and the U.S. National Cancer Institute. Besides reducing the risk of cancer and heart disease, such tobacco-control policies could raise large amounts of money for governments to use for health and economic development, the study authors said.

"But billions of dollars and millions of lives could be saved through higher tobacco prices and taxes."

Meaning that people quitting have hit them hard in their tax revenues. If they really wanted to save millions of lives they would stop sanctioning the sale of it.

It's not the sin that kills you it's the demons it creates by doing them that do.

Of course knowing this and having to deal with it spiritually with the Holy Spirit can make you a smoker. Imagine the world was a hornets nest and you just stepped in there as the only food source for hornets...

If they don't want you to smoke, it's probably for a reason and it's probably not for your health. But ultimately still a sin.

Exactly, but then the medical communities would suffer severe loss of profits.

Smoking causes all sorts of health problems, secondhand smoke causes all sorts of health problems, chewing tobacco cause all sorts of health problems yet the FDA and EPA are all holding stock in the tobacco industry.

But, then, they raise the safety levels of toxins in air, water and food, and allow medicines on the market that cause hep c, tuberculosis, and death. They also allow a certain percentage of rodent and insect parts in your food..

Cheer
Protecting America much like the obama administration did by giving Monsanto it's own constitution.

And medical marijuana wasn't legalized until Monsanto created and patented it.

I'll believe that they really give a damn about Particulate Matter when they stop chemtrail spraying. Until then, we're all breathing in "secondhand" PM- non smokers included.

If you think the government gives a damn about your health OP then why are you on a conspiracy forum?

The lady across the street recently died of lung cancer. She never smoked a cigarette in her life. neither did her long time husband. After her husband died she dated a guy for a few months who did smoke but only outside. BINGO They wrote her up as a lung cancer victim due to second hand smoke. Total and complete BS.

In the cowboy days almost everyone smoked and there was zero lung cancer rates. When they started mass producing cigarettes in factories, then and only then did health problems start to increase. It was due to the pesticides they sprayed on the Tobacco and also the glue they use on the paper.

Back in the 1970 or 1980's they had this same propaganda campaign. The government sued the tobacco companies and won. I was a smoker and as such was a victim I was told of the Tobacco companies. So they sued in my name and all other smokers names. The tobacco companies agreed to pay billions. So they just tripled the cost of cigarettes and us "victims" are the ones that had to pay the settlement. The tobacco companies did not pay anything.

so what do you think the Government did with all that money? They were so concerned about me. Did they open up free clinics I could go to and quit smoking? Hell no. The money went into the general fund and they spent it on everything but smokers.

When the price tripled many people just quit because they could no longer afford to smoke. Many others quit because they believed the fear mongering Government. Today there just are not that many people that still smoke and they can no longer smoke inside building like the old days...long ago.

So with many less smokers would you expect the cancer rates to go down? Well they did not. In fact they went to the moon....Straight up and not even the slightest down turn.

So lets get to the facts. There are over 200 kinds of cancer. Lung cancer represents 2 percent of cancer rates. Half of those two percent never smoked a cigarette in their lives. That leaves 1 percent. Half of that one percent are people that smoked for a short period in the life and quit. So that leaves 1/2 of 1 percent of people that smoked most of their life or all their life.

Now let us say that people that smoke get sick and die at a young age. Well the Government saves a fortune on not having to pay them Social Security. But you quoted trillions they have to pay out in medical costs. I say BS to that too. Lung cancer is a fast killer. There are no long drawn out deaths. You are talking about a year max once you are diagnosed.

My wife died 7 years ago from cancer and she never smoked a day in her life. I smoked outside the house only and have smoked since I was 15 years old. I am now close to 70 and all my non-smoking friends are long gone. They always said I would be the first to go because they believed the BS. But it looks like I might be the last one standing.

Go figure.

They used Botox as fillers for women who isn't want plastic surgery but wanted smooth unwrinkled skin and duck lips.
It was found to cause cancers and other health problems.
But think about it..it expanded the tissue temporarily to appear fuller and now they are using it asa migraine treatment. But it didn't get a new and improved name..still Botox.

Yep, I also think it is nothing more than a money grab. They went after smoking first to see if they could get away with it because most people hate tobacco.

Long ago when they went after smoking most people cheered and thought it was the best thing in the world. I said way back then that they would eventually come after their bad habits, like fast food, junk foods, alcohol and whatever else they think they can get away with. And when they do it will be the same results. Disease will still increase because the real culprit for cancer is radiation from Nuke power plants, Fukishima, DU weapons dust, and radiation from cell phones and Wi-Fi.
