Democrats got millions more votes – so how did Republicans win the Senate?

"...Among the most eye-catching was a statistic showing Democrats led Republicans by more than 12 million votes in Senate races, and yet still suffered losses on the night and failed to win a majority of seats in the chamber...."

The majority of Americans vote Democrats ....
Even so they lose, as in the election for president ...
Something must be wrong with your voting system ....

Haters. Isolators. No one misses these.

Gerrymandering

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerrymandering

"Gerrymandering is a practice intended to establish a political advantage for a particular party or group by manipulating district boundaries. The resulting district is known as a gerrymander (/ˈdʒɛriˌmændər, ˈɡɛri-/); however, that word is also a verb for the process. The term gerrymandering has negative connotations. Two principal tactics are used in gerrymandering: "cracking" (i.e. diluting the voting power of the opposing party's supporters across many districts) and "packing" (concentrating the opposing party's voting power in one district to reduce their voting power in other districts). The third tactic, shown in the top-left diagram in the diagrams to the right, is that of homogenization of all districts..."

1st grade government......each state only has 2 senators no matter how many people live in that state....so 12 million Californians still only vote to gain 2 senators. California and New York population alone could easily produce 12 million voters....they still only get 4 senators for all those voters.
These are state elections , not federal.

There are 2 senators per state.....gerrymandering applies more to congressional seats which are based on population. PA is overwhelming red by area, but Pittsburgh and Philly have so many people they decide the state.

This exemplifies Americas problems ....people who have no clue how our government even works are allowed to vote.
You should have to pass a citizenship exam to get a voter ID card.
You should also be a tax payer, with a net loss to the Government.
If your getting money from the government, more then your paying in you should not have a say. Obviously you are going to keep your gravy train running. Issues that the rest of us have to pay for be damned."

Well, should do away with the individual states as that is not fair to poor hard done by urban folks... who obviously think populism is really nasty... except when the popular vote is in their favour..

"....In addition to its use achieving desired electoral results for a particular party, gerrymandering may be used to help or hinder a particular demographic, such as a political, ethnic, racial, linguistic, religious, or class group, such as in U.S. federal voting district boundaries that produce a majority of constituents representative of African-American or other racial minorities, known as "majority-minority districts". Gerrymandering can also be used to protect incumbents...."

Unbelievable
Sounds a Repub practice...
