Congrats! Google not only records your voice searches, but also likely your private conversations.

Google Voice Search Keeps and Records Conversations People Have Around Their Phones - But the files can be deleted if you know how to do it.

Google could have a record of everything you have said around it for years, and you can listen to it yourself.

The company quietly records many of the conversations that people have around its products.

The feature works as a way of letting people search with their voice, and storing those recordings presumably lets Google improve its language recognition tools as well as the results that it gives to people.

But it also comes with an easy way of listening to and deleting all of the information that it collects. That’s done through a special page that brings together the information that Google has on you.

It’s found by heading to Google’s history page and looking at the long list of recordings. The company has a specific audio page and another for activity on the web, which will show you everywhere Google has a record of you being on the internet.

<snip>

The easiest way to stop Google recording everything is to turn off the virtual assistant and never to use voice search. But that solution also gets at the central problem of much privacy and data use today – doing so cuts off one of the most useful things about having an Android phone or using Google search.

I said ok google once and after that I no longer keep it in the same room with me when company comes over. It's in front of my stereo speakers when in the same room being hit with music. I have black tape over my camera lenses because they watch you even when the phone is off. Fuk google.

Well yes, if you want to be like that then yes, anything with a mic in is listening to you. Be it your phone or the person you're with or any smart tech you pass by walking down the street.

There is no real escape, but it's nice to try and comfort yourself into thinking it.

RE: "Okay Google": Do you use Google Voice Search?
OK Google doesn't work for me. I can say it over and over and over again and nothing happens.

Google Maps and Google Search takes like for ever to open when I hit the mic button, then it still scrambles what I say.

I just type everything in.

And no I don't have a speech impediment.

But then those touch screens don't actually like my touch, I have to tap hard or wet my finger tips just to get the damned things to see me.

Maybe I'm not real, maybe I'm just a waning ghost? Tissue

Just remember that once Google gets a sample of your voice it's never giving it back.

They keep your searches on record for years.
