Larry Kudrow is such a lying patriotically oriented sycophant douchebag. Both he and Trump are lying, covering up the truth of the CDC saying Coronavirus warns will spread in the US. "Airtight" my ass.

‘Mars Needn’t Worry’: Top Trump Economic Advisor Slammed for Claiming Coronavirus ‘Contained’ After CDC Warns of Spread

"Larry Kudlow, President Donald Trump’s top economic advisor, is falsely claiming the U.S. has “contained” the coronavirus, literally minutes after reports broke that the CDC is warning of a spread of the deadly virus that has killed 2600 people, mostly in China.

The U.S. has 53 confirmed cases as of Monday, according to the World Health Organization.

“We have contained this. I won’t say ‘air-tight,’ but it’s pretty close to air-tight,” Kudlow said on CNBC, where he worked as a financial analyst and TV host before Trump hired him to be his Director of the National Economic Council.

“There will be some stumbles. We’re looking at numbers; it’s a little iffy,” Kudlow continued, referring to the economic, not human impact. “But at the moment, the numbers that we’re looking at … there’s no supply disruptions out there yet.” Kudlow did classify the human toll as tragic.

The U.S. has “contained” the coronavirus, NEC Director Larry Kudlow says. “Pretty close to airtight.” https://cnb.cx/32pKJyk

The DOW has dropped over 1800 points this week, in less than two full days of trading so far as a result of coronavirus fears.

Many on social media said the administration put Kudlow out to minimize the economic damage, after the CDC warned the American public earlier today that “we expect we will see community spread in the United States” of the coronavirus. The CDC also added: “It’s not a question of if this will happen but when this will happen and how many people in this country will have severe illnesses.”

“We are asking the American public to prepare for the expectation that this might be bad,” a top CDC official said.

I'm sorry, but how can anyone declare that, "we have contained this" when they have absolutely no idea how bad it will get here and the CDC itself says moments ago that the spread of the Coronavirus in the United States "might be bad."

RE: Desperate deeds: Trump's admin. panicked and Lying about Covid19 UPDATES:
Trump Massively Lies About the Number of People in the US With Coronavirus: ‘We’re Really Down to Probably About 10’

"President Donald Trump on Tuesday spent about 45 minutes lying about a wide variety of topics during a press conference in India. Among the topics he chose to not tell the truth about were the stock market, Ebola, Russia’s interference in the 2020 election, and the coronavirus, as The American Independent noted.

But it’s Trump’s lie about the number of confirmed cases in the U.S. of COVID-19, better known as the Wuhan Coronavirus, or just coronavirus, that is making many even more concerned about the lack of awareness and preparation by Trump and his administration to battle what the World Health Organization says is a virus with “unlimited potential.”

Trump bragged that what he has done to stop the spread of the coronavirus in the U.S. is unprecedented, which is false. Just hours ago several U.S. Senators, after attending a classified briefing on the cornoavirus, warned just how poorly prepared the Trump administration is to handle it, especially if and when it becomes a pandemic.

The CDC just warned that the spread of the coronavirus inside the U.S. is inevitable.

“We are asking the American public to prepare for the expectation that this might be bad,” a top CDC official said.

But Trump is lying about U.S. preparedness and about the number of Americans infected, which is dangerous.

“We’re really down to probably about 10,” Trump told reporters.

Trump on coronavirus: "We're really down to probably about 10 [cases]." (More than two dozen Americans had the illness as of yesterday.)

As of Monday, the World Health Organization reports there are 53 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the U.S. There are also nearly 80,000 confirmed cases worldwide. The U.S. could quickly face a dramatic rise if the Trump administration does not act immediately.

RE: Desperate deeds: Trump's admin. panicked and Lying about Covid19 UPDATES:
GOP chairman of Appropriations panel worries Trump 'lowballing' coronavirus funding request

"The GOP chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee said Tuesday he is concerned the Trump administration is "lowballing" its request for emergency coronavirus funding and that he will recommend a "higher" number.

Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) said he has heard complaints that the $2.5 billion requested by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is not enough to prepare for a possible pandemic.

"It seems to me at the outset that this request for the money, the supplemental, is lowballing it, possibly, and you can't afford to do that," Shelby told HHS Secretary Alex Azar on Tuesday during a hearing on the agency's budget request.

"If you lowball something like this, you'll pay for it later," he warned.

Shelby told reporters afterward he doesn't have a new number in mind but that it will be "higher" than the $2.5 billion requested by HHS.

Azar said the administration would work with Congress if lawmakers think more money is needed.

"We'll be of the mindset to fund this crisis, not to underfund it in any way, and I hope this administration would look at this as something they cannot afford to let get out of hand," Azar said.

The administration's request includes $1.25 billion in new funding, with the rest to be taken from existing health programs, including $535 million from fighting Ebola.

More than 77,000 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in China, where it was first detected. More than 2,000 cases have been identified in other countries, including 57 in the U.S. That includes 40 cases identified in people who had been repatriated to the country from the Diamond Princess cruise ship. RE: Desperate deeds: Trump's admin. panicked and Lying about Covid19 UPDATES:
More republicans startled by the lack of truth and funding and preparations. Trump's presidency is astoundingly culpable for all of this stupidity, lies, under funding, and endangering the US citizens.

Sen. Kennedy slams acting DHS secretary for lack of coronavirus answers

"Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) slammed acting Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Chad Wolf on Tuesday for Wolf's lack of answers during a tense grilling on the U.S. response to the coronavirus outbreak.

In a subcommittee hearing on the 2021 DHS budget, Wolf failed to provide specific answers Kennedy's questions, including one on how many people are predicted to become infected with the new strain of virus.

“We’re working with HHS to determine that,” Wolf said, repeatedly deferring to the Department of Health and Human Services.

“Yes, sir, but you’re head of Homeland Security and your job is to keep us safe,” Kennedy shot back, often talking over Wolf. “Don’t you think you ought to check on that?”

Aaron Rupar

@atrupar
"You're the secretary. I think you oughta know that answer" -- Even @SenJohnKennedy ® is fed up with Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf's ignorance about coronavirus

Kennedy, visibly irate, appeared to get more frustrated when Wolf couldn't provide specific answers as to how many respirators and masks are available and how many would be needed for a wider outbreak. Wolf also struggled with precise mortality rate for the virus and how it compares to the flu.

“You’re the secretary, I think you ought to know that answer,” Kennedy said at one point.

Kennedy also flashed anger when Wolf told him a vaccine could be only a matter of months away, contradicting testimony from a congressional briefing earlier in the day that found it would take 12 to 18 months.

“Who’s on first here? What’s on second?” Kennedy said, referencing the classic Abbot and Costello comedy sketch on miscommunication.

“Your numbers aren’t the same as CDC’s,” he added.

The spread of coronavirus has become a significant concern to health experts, though the World Health Organization said it was not yet ready to label it a pandemic. The vast majority of cases have been confined to China, though a recent outbreak in Italy has caused fears of a more global platform for the virus. Only 50 cases have appeared in the U.S., most of which were found in Americans infected abroad who were then repatriated.

Like many members of President Trump’s cabinet, Wolf is serving in an acting capacity. He was designated for that position in November, a month after his predecessor Kevin McAleenan — also an acting secretary — stepped down. DHS has not had a confirmed secretary since Kirstjen Nielsen left the post in April 2019."

Trump is an idiot you do not want him in charge of a virus crisis. There are many things Trump and his administration can do to stop the spread of this virus in the US and the CDC flight that sent those Americans into quarantine was not what is dangerous.

Thank you for putting this out there, I read it elswhere as well. The problem I see is this feeling that it can’t happen here, the government will take care of us or just a feeling of intitlement.

Not that others will relate, but I starved as a kid, lived in chicken coop, abondoned buildings and survived some year on very little. One winter it was raw potaoes, another raw oatmeal and sugar. When my drunken father thought to come home, we would wolf down any meat raw out of the package. I have never taken my life since to be forever a good thing. I hope you others do not need to experience this to learn thankfulness. I also ate hard corn from the fields, pellets that were pig food.

What I am saying, you can survive on little, but get the basics in order, it can happen, it did. We are prepping, but others do not even consider it.

You don't have to listen to Trump.
Prepare if you like.

People can prepare and they should.

That has nothing to do with what the US government should be doing to prepare and to fund quarantine spaces, and prepping states with everything they will need.

Trump needs to start ordering his advisors and spokespeople to get on the same page and start telling folks the truth of what is about to happen.

Trump needs to stop lying and Kudlow should just f*cking resign that patriotically oriented sycophant lies every time he opens his mouth.

RE: Desperate deeds: Trump's admin. panicked and Lying about Covid19 UPDATES:
‘This is what you get when cabinet officials are picked from Fox News’: Twitter stunned at acting DHS secretary’s coronavirus unpreparedness

"Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) lashed out at acting Department of Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf this Tuesday when he couldn’t answer some basic questions about the potential for a major coronavirus outbreak in the United States.

“How many [cases of coronavirus in the United States] are you anticipating?” Kennedy asked Wolf during a Senate hearing.

“We’re working with [Health and Human Services] to determine that,” Wolf replied.

“How many are you anticipating?” Kennedy asked again.

“We do anticipate the number will grow, I don’t have an exact figure for you,” he replied.

“Is someone modeling that, do you have any way of guessing?” Kennedy asked.

Matt Novak
@paleofuture
DHS Secretary Chad Wolf claims the mortality rate for coronavirus is similar to the flu, both at about 2%. Senator Kennedy says "are you sure of that?" and the secretary doubles down.

The mortality rate for seasonal flu is closer to 0.1%:

As video of the tense exchange made its way around Twitter, some found themselves wondering how things got to this point:
