RE: BIG 100 Day Countdown to Trump's complete political defeat - BLUE WAVE UPDATES:
Trump advisers already pointing fingers at each other for floundering campaign strategy

"Officials for President Donald Trump’s campaign are increasingly pessimistic about their chances of getting the needed 270 electoral votes, and many of them are already pointing fingers at one another.

According to Axios’s Jonathan Swan, “three senior Trump advisers who recently talked to campaign manager Bill Stepien walked away believing he thinks they will lose” the 2020 race, despite Trump’s shock come-from-behind victory against Hillary Clinton in 2016.

Furthermore, sources tell Swan that “the Trump campaign is filled with internal blaming and pre-spinning of a potential loss, accelerating a dire mood that’s driven by a daily barrage of bleak headlines” over the past several weeks.

Some campaign sources tell Swan that they are baffled by the campaign’s decision to continue “half-assed” ad spending in Wisconsin even though the campaign now believes that state is already out of reach.

However, defenders of Trump campaign manager Bill Stepien tell Swan that he’s still spending miniscule amounts in out-of-reach states because he knows “Trump would inevitably blow up at him if he were to read newspaper stories that he was going off the air in a Rust Belt battleground.”

In fact, many of Swan’s sources say that Trump, not Stepien, is primarily to blame for the campaign’s fading fortunes.

“A lot of this is the president himself,” one adviser said. “You can’t heal a patient who doesn’t want to take the diagnosis.”"

RE: BIG 100 Day Countdown to Trump's complete political defeat - BLUE WAVE UPDATES:
So much bad news for the Trump campaign coming in every day. Scream1

‘It’s over’: GOP pollster predicts ‘historic’ losses for Republicans in Colorado

"Republican pollster David Flaherty is predicting “historic” losses for his party this Election Day and insisting, “There is no reason for either side to put another dime into this state. It’s over. It is undeniable. The train wreck and implosion of the president will bring a historic number of other Republican candidates down, and if you don’t believe that then you have your head in the sand.”

Two years ago, Gardner led the National Republican Senatorial Committee, which spent $145,000 in Colorado in the first half of October, according to a Denver Post review of campaign finance filings through Wednesday. In comparison, the National Republican Senatorial Committee spent $3.2 million in Iowa, $3.2 million in Michigan, $2.2 million in Montana, $2.2 million in Maine, and $1.7 million in Arizona.

Likewise, campaign finance reports showed that the Republican super PAC the Senate Leadership Fund spent less in Colorado so far in October than in the 10 other states it has focused on. In the total amount of $22.5 million put aside for campaign funding by this group, only $1 million was allocated to Colorado.

“It’s unbelievable,” said Flaherty. “Republicans are trying to defend South Carolina, Georgia, arguably Texas, Kansas, and that is 100% due to the president’s failures as a candidate, on addressing COVID, and on a number of issues. That’s why the Republicans really have their backs up against the wall.”

“My perception is that Cory [U.S. Sen. Cory Gardner] and his allies have together bought a huge amount of television time. At some point, does another $100,000 make any difference? I’m not sure it does,” said Dick Wadhams, a former Colorado Republican Party chair who has managed successful U.S. Senate campaigns.

“Cory’s problem is not that he does not have enough money in his account or that there’s not enough spending on that side. Cory’s biggest problem right now is the national political environment, and that has been driven by President Trump’s numbers against Joe Biden,” Wadhams said. “I’m not sure any money can offset that right now.”"

Even Trump is admitting Florida is not looking good for Trump.

Says he is going to "fire" DeSantis somehow. chuckle

Trump seems to think he has some ability to fire a governor for losing a state that Trump is losing.

Trump says he’ll blame governor if he loses Florida: ‘I’ll fire him, somehow’

"During his campaign stop in Ocala, Fla. Friday, President Donald J. Trump asked for a favor – or else.

“Hey Ron, are we gonna win the state please?” Trump said. “You know, if we don’t win it, I’m blaming the governor. I’ll fire him somehow.”

Trump was referencing Gov. Ronald Dion DeSantis(R-FL).

RE: BIG 100 Day Countdown to Trump's complete political defeat - BLUE WAVE UPDATES:
Trump Aides Lament Guthrie Town Hall Was ‘Damaging’ to President as He ‘Runs Out of Time’: AP Reporter

"Reporting on the fall-out from Donald Trump’s controversial town hall on MSNBC on Thursday night, Associated Press White House correspondent Jonathan Lemire claimed that aides to the president are already admitting that the president made some “damaging” comments that could hurt his re-election campaign.

Speaking with “Morning Joe” co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brezinski, Lemire said the range of topics exposed the president and his answers likely didn’t make anyone on the fence consider voting for him.

“Viewers would have experienced some whiplash watching the two — trying to watch both town halls,” Lemire explained while comparing the Trump town hall to Democratic challenger Joe Biden’s on ABC. “There was one moment that crystallized it: at the same moment that Trump was defending QAnon, Joe Biden was talking about the taxes. He showed empathy to the listeners, to those asking him questions.”

“In terms of the president, people I have talked to around him last night and a few texts early this morning suggested once again a real anger at the media,” he continued. “Blaming the scapegoat, in this case, Savannah Guthrie who I thought did a terrific job yesterday.”

“But I will say they do say there may have been some moments last night that may have been damaging,” he added. “Like not denouncing QAnon. The very testy one when he finally got around to denouncing white supremacy. There are certainly going to be questions about tax returns and whether or not he took a COVID test before the last debate. Several times he dodged, he evaded and raised real questions as to whether or not he exposed Joe Biden last time which is going to raise more concerns about next week when they’re supposed to set up for a final debate next Thursday.”

“The president, frankly, is running of out of time” he explained before concluding, “It’s hard to imagine, even his aides concede, that there was any moment last night that the president swung voters his way when he simply is running out of time and opportunities to change the trajectory of this race.”

RE: BIG 100 Day Countdown to Trump's complete political defeat - BLUE WAVE UPDATES:
Trump is spending all of his time and money in states he should be winning in. chuckle

Not a good sign,.... for Trump.

Trump facing a ‘crushing loss’ on election day as he scrambles to save states he won in 2016: report

"When Donald Trump’s 2020 re-election campaign kicked off the president and his aides targeted states they felt they could pick up that went to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in 2016.

That was then and this is now.

According to a report from Politico, with the president’s approval numbers in freefall and pollsters predicting a substantial Electoral College loss, the president is now being forced to appear in states he won in 2016 to keep them out of the loss column in what could be a “crushing loss” at the ballot box.

According to the report from Politico’s Gabby Orr, “In the final 18 days before voters decide whether to keep President Donald Trump in the White House, the incumbent Republican is spending precious time in states that were never supposed to be this close but now threaten to upend his reelection campaign.”

If recent polling is to be believed, Trump is in danger of losing normally stalwart Republican states like Georgia, Arizona, Iowa and Florida — making his path to re-election near impossible.

As Orr wrote, “The president’s campaign schedule in the final weeks is either a tacit acknowledgment that he’s on the brink of crushing losses in major battlegrounds and once-impenetrable red states, or an over cautious exercise in due-diligence.” She then added, “Trump’s defensive posture follows a stretch of devastating blows to his reelection campaign that further imperiled his standing in the industrial Midwest, where the 2020 election is likely to be decided, and cast new doubt on his ability to keep the Sun Belt in his column.”

Noting the stunning reversal of Trump’s political fortunes, one person close to Trump’s campaign admitted, “I’ve never seen a Republican president with numbers like this in Arizona.

According to the Politico report, “Trump is expected to remain on the campaign trail nearly every day until the election, zig-zagging between the Midwest and southern tier of the U.S. to cover all his bases. Next week he will participate in his second and final debate against Biden at Belmont University in Nashville.”"

RE: BIG 100 Day Countdown to Trump's complete political defeat - BLUE WAVE UPDATES:
Rural voters explain why they’re ditching Trump: ‘I went from being a pawn — to collateral damage’

"President Donald Trump has desperately tried to convince rural America that he will save them as their communities are slowly falling away. Trump has tried to prop them up with farmer funding, but the tactic shows an ignorance about the issues that rural families are facing when it comes to education and access to medical care.

In a Washington Post report, Creston, Iowa beautician Re Nae Fulton said that she was done with Trump early on in his presidency.

"Silly us!" Fulton said. "He had everything handed to him. . . . Everything had to be about him — me, me, me, why aren't you bowing down to me? We need somebody who is going to heal our country and bring people back together."

After a long-term trade war that sent many farmers spiraling into bankruptcy and a crusade against the Affordable Care Act, which funded rural hospitals, national polls show Trump's support among rural voters is narrowing.

"In Michigan, Trump won 56 percent of rural votes to Hillary Clinton's 38 percent, according to 2016 exit polls," the Post cited. "A New York Times/Siena College poll of the state earlier this month found Trump and Biden were essentially tied with rural voters.

Alan Weisshaar is a farmer and rancher who left the Democratic Party. In 2016 he thought the promises the president made "sounded pretty good for farmers." While he voted for Clinton, he was ready to give Trump the benefit of the doubt. It didn't go well. He and his fellow farmers lost their shirts when the export demand for corn and soybeans took a dive. He lost about $40,000 each year of the Trump trade war.

"Before he was elected, he was all about the little guy, this populist rhetoric," he said. "But then he got us out of the trade treaties, like all of them, and I went from feeling like a pawn in his personal trade war to being collateral damage."

While Trump is still expected to win rural America, it's clear the broken promises have made a dent in those whose lives are worse after four years of Trump."

RE: BIG 100 Day Countdown to Trump's complete political defeat - BLUE WAVE UPDATES:
This is good news the republicans are going to be the ones more likely to be effected by the republican efforts to suppress the vote with long lines and fewer polling places on election days. chuckle

New data shows how Fox News may be keeping Republicans away from voting

"On Monday, writing for The Washington Post, columnist Greg Sargent outlined the results of a new poll from the Public Religion Research Institute, suggesting Fox News’ messaging is actually turning people off one of the easiest and most convenient forms of voting — putting President Donald Trump’s re-election in jeopardy.

“Republicans who place great trust in Fox News say in truly overwhelming percentages that they are ‘not at all’ confident that vote-by-mail will be secure against fraud,” wrote Sargent. “This is precisely an outcome that Republican strategists worried about. Last spring, when Trump was pushing false and unsubstantiated claims about fraud in vote-by-mail particularly hard, Republicans loudly voiced their fears this would put them at a disadvantage in key swing states.”

The poll finds that 56 percent of Republicans have no trust in voting by mail, as opposed to 25 percent of Democrats. For Republicans who say they most trust Fox News, that figure jumps to 73 percent.

These results track with early vote totals in Florida that suggests Republicans are lagging badly — when in previous years they often led the mail-in ballot count. While Trump supporters can still vote in person, they will face the obstacles inherent in doing so, including longer wait times.

“This has been a pattern all throughout. Fox’s relentless promotion of Trump’s efforts to falsify the coronavirus crisis induced him to further dig in behind that position, leading to the dire political position he now finds himself in,” wrote Sargent. “And as the Associated Press reports, some Republicans fear the right-wing media’s obsession over Trump’s fake new Hunter Biden scandal will persuade the president that it constitutes an effective attack, leading him to squander more time he needs to win back the voters he’s alienated.”

“If Fox News has also assisted in deepening the GOP disadvantage on vote-by-mail — and if Trump does end up losing in part as a result — it will constitute yet another way that Fox helped seal Trump’s fate,” concluded Sargent."

RE: BIG 100 Day Countdown to Trump's complete political defeat - BLUE WAVE UPDATES:
Former McCain aide says Trump has alienated Mormon voters in Arizona — and it’s hurting him badly

"No Democrat has won the state of Arizona since former President Bill Clinton, but President Donald Trump isn’t doing well in the state and it seems he could even lose as the state is slowly growing more “purple.”

In an interview with former senior adviser to Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) Mark Salter, MSNBC’s Ali Velshi noted that there has always been large communities of Mormons who would be solid Republican voters. But under Trump, that isn’t necessarily the case.

“You were talking about changing demographics,” Velshi said about a conversation he had with Salter yesterday. “There is a good conservative Christian population and a significant minority of Mormons who would have been solidly in the Republican column for the last many decades. There’s a bit of a shift there that you were talking about, can you tell me about that?”

“Well, yeah, he is not — he does better with evangelicals than he deserves to do given his own personal habits, but he doesn’t do well with Mormons, who are very upright people,” said Salter. “They also I think probably take a dim view of his offensive remarks about Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT), so that’s a weak point for him. Jeff Flake, again, also a Mormon, who has been quite outspoken to President Trump’s behavior and personal style. but he has a lot of friends out there, too. So, yeah, it is definitely a softened vote for him.”

Host Steve Kornacki noted that when people lose or their term is over they generally back away and stay quiet. Being quiet isn’t Trump’s style, even if the Republican Party wants to change its image."

RE: BIG 100 Day Countdown to Trump's complete political defeat - BLUE WAVE UPDATES:
I think Biden is going to win Florida and that means the election will be over sooner and Trump will be forced to concede the election without huge court challenges.

At Least 67,000 Felons Registered To Vote In Florida, Group Says
While the number falls short of the estimated 1.4 million people the state voted to enfranchise in 2018, civil rights groups said it was still a historic moment.

"Around 67,000 felons who had their voting rights restored in Florida have since registered to vote, a justice reform group said Monday as the state began in-person voting.

Voters overwhelmingly approved an amendment to the Florida constitution in 2018 that restored voting rights to an estimated 1.4 million people who had completed “all terms” of their sentences.

The state had previously instituted a lifetime ban on voting for those with felony convictions, and while lawmakers and court challenges have added additional hurdles (including requirements those with criminal convictions pay court fines and fees), civil rights groups have hailed the shift as a historic means to enfranchise many in the swing state.

“There is no doubt in my mind that there are thousands upon thousands of energized and inspired returning citizens throughout the state that will not be denied, that will be a voice, and will have an impact in determining who wins Florida,” Desmond Meade, executive director of the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition, said Monday, according to Politico.

The GOP-controlled legislature passed a law in 2018 shortly after voters approved Amendment 4, which required those with criminal convictions to pay restitution, court fines or fees they owed before they could vote. The University of Florida later found nearly 775,000 felons who could qualify to vote owed money under the terms of the new law and would be ineligible if they couldn’t pay them off.

Voting rights groups challenged the law, equating it to a “modern-day poll tax,” but after some judicial tussling, the Supreme Court declined to hear the case this summer.

Florida had its first day of in-person voting on Monday, and state officials said it was the largest opening day record in history with more than 350,000 ballots cast. Vote by mail figures have also far exceeded expectations due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Florida said more than 2.5 million ballots have been mailed in thus far, compared to 1.2 million during the same timeframe in 2016.

The Florida Rights Restoration Coalition helped raise money to pay off fines and fees that could have prevented citizens from registering to vote before Florida’s Oct. 5 deadline. Politico noted Republicans had criticized that effort and a $16 million pledge by billionaire Mike Bloomberg, calling for a formal investigation."
