' Spirited Away ' was good / gets alot of hype

The first two on your list are great , you just don't get them maybe

DW's ' Flight ' was great as well

you must filter through the crap to get to the good stuff

If it comes out of hollywood it's ALL crap.
High budget or low budget it's all crap and it only sells propaganda nobody wants.
Everything is Seth Rogan or equivalent or worse.

RE: Cinema Disappointments
Saw 2001 in Cinerama; It was an Experience of Sight and Sound. The story? As a kid, I didn't care; nor try to "get the meaning". What meaning??? That sh*t is for pseudo-intellectuals, or media degreed college pukes.

Lots of lame sh*t gets produced out there. Most of it is garbage. Anything Spielberg is connected to is mediocre. The only decent scene in Saving Private Ryan is the beach landing. After that, the movie falls into stupidity. ET? Just stupid. Goonies? One decent joke, about the father dying in the chimney at xmas.

How much cinematic greatness is there? Most of it, adapted from play or novel. Long Days Journey Into Night, My Fair Lady, Streetcar Named Desire, Grapes Of Wrath, East Of Eden, Arsenic and Old Lace, Bringing Up Baby, Mame, To Kill A Mockingbird.

Consider how much of the "greatness" actually focuses on Psychological dysfunctional characters and social environments... The post-WWII films of acclaim were largely social conditioning stories which were touted up and "sold to the public" to gain acceptance for devolving American Society. How many blacklisted and admitted Communists were involved in films and literature? Most of those who were "acclaimed".

TV content was referred to as "programming". Everything in modern media is delivered with programming your social responses in mind.

242yrs ago, Americans were capable of taking action when "enough is enough". How long past has that notion come and gone? There's no action, and there won't be any.

How good a job has Hollywood done making you identify with weak and passive characters, when it shows any normally strong character to be sick or mentally deficient?

What are you programmed to be?
