Just buy a 1960s car, it is rapture and emp proof, and you can work on it yourself.

Now back to work slave or are you paid to post?

Somebody lied to you, nothing is EMP proof You have an alternator and points that will burn up.
It is easy to work on I will give you that one.

Have you got a spare wheel for a Penny Far-thing? chuckle

I think people forget that phone networks have been switched with computer networks for over 20 years now. The only places that still use electro-mechanical switching are tiny islands and very remote places.
A lot of copper lines are now fiber optic, which use computers.
An EMP would make phone calls impossible.

Technology used to be more expensive than mechanical systems, now it is there other way around, so it is used to keep costs down.

Mechanical items wear out after so long. An electronic switch (transistor) can outlast a mechanical switch decades.

The in-car wifi is so your kids can use their iPads or whatever on a trip.

I never seen a motorized tailgate, but have you felt the tailgates on newer trucks? They are heavy. I guess it would be an option for older people so they can put groceries in their trucks easier.

That brings me to another topic, why do so many old people by trucks and use them as cars? Never putting in a load of dirt, a couch, etc?

But why wouldn’t I just use my existing cell phone as a WIFI hotspot for the occasional long trip with the kids? Same 4G network, same speeds, same thing. Why pay twice for it?

As for tailgate heaviness...how many elderly women out there drive pickups? Seems like it would be more af an aftermarket thing thing hand pedals for the handicapped than a regular option feature.

An large scale EMP would make even the oldest and most remote landline services unusable as well. Those copper phone lines would transmit the surge and fry everything attached that uses any electricity at all.

Only easy if you can find the damn parts locally right in your own backyard so to speak.

Whole national supply chain would be down and if it isn’t in your zip code to begin with...forget it.

Actually modern cars are brain toasters giving the amount of radiation they emit and receive.

They are life shorteners.

And hi from my vehicle:)

Period ... chuckle

BEAUTIFUL ride.
Unfortunately the 8 mpg’s, guaranteed complete breakdown of all systems by 100K miles or sooner, and virtual impossibility of finding parts without special order make this not a practical option as a daily driver.[/b]

I like my 90's corvette, still has an actual cable controlling the fuel injection.
