The Castle of the Living Dead (1964)

Christopher Lee portrays the evil Count Drago in his usual masterful way. With a penchant for turning animals into mummies with his new serum, it comes as no surprise that he eventually wants to try it on people. Some fun surprises with the circus people, especially a heroic dwarf. Donald Sutherland's screen debut has him in a dual role as a soldier and a witch.

X the Unknown (1956)

X the Unknown is a well-crafted imitation of the Quatermass British sci-fi pictures of the 1950s. A group of soldiers on maneuvers in Scotland stumble across a gravel pit which emanates an unusual amount of radiation. Several deaths occur before the radioactive material is mysteriously stolen. Researcher Dr. Adam Royston (Dean Jagger) speculates that the thief is some sort of inhuman monstrosity dwelling at the Earth's core. He points out that past radioactive disturbances have been occurring at 50-year intervals, each followed by sudden deaths and the disappearance of the material. Royston suggests that the unknown monster has been resuscitated by humankind's recent atomic experiments. Sure enough, the monster manifests itself as a huge slab of glowing radioactive mud (laugh now if you must -- you won't laugh when you see it). X the Unknown works well within its limited budget; unfortunately, many TV prints have been truncated, robbing some of the best horrific moments of their full impact.

More Dead Than Alive (1969)

An outlaw responsible for many deaths, Cain (Clint Walker) is released from prison after years behind bars. Despite his earlier wicked ways, Cain has made a real effort to reform and just wants to be left in peace. Unfortunately, his reputation limits his employment options, and he's left with no choice except becoming a performer in a Wild West show. Working for promoter Dan Ruffalo (Vincent Price), Cain attempts to lead a relatively quiet life, but other gunslingers are still out to get him.

Columbo Likes the Nightlife (2003)

When Vanessa Farrow (played expertly by Jennifer Sky) accidentally kills her ex-husband, it's down to nightclub owner Justin Price (Matthew Rhys) to dispose of the body. But a surprising twist to the story will certainly keep viewers hooked! In steps our favourite Lt and the fun begins! Columbo Likes the Nightlife still contains the legendary trademarks that make the series so popular, including the "just one more thing" phrase, the talk of his wife, as well as his ageless car, but I do fear that it may be ignored by many viewers simply because of Peter's age. He may have been in his mid 70s at the time, but Lt. Columbo doesn't have to be! It's not the best by any means, but is certainly watchable.

Absolutely SS, Quatermass is such a classic genre. Very timeless I think.

Sherlock Holmes and the Deadly Necklace (1962)

The London sleuth (Christopher Lee) and Dr. Watson (Thorley Walters)

Holmes and Watson are again after Moriarty, but this time Scotland Yard doesn't even suspect that he's the one who wants to steal the necklace from Cleopatra's tomb. This film doesn't hold together like most of the Holmes/Watson movies and is an odd interpretation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's story.

The Secret of Boyne Castle (1969)

The Secret of Boyne Castle (television title) or Guns in the Heather (theatrical title) is a wild romp through late 1960's Ireland with two school chums being pursued by spies from an unknown state. The story opens with an automobile chase scene of a mortally wounded Irish underworld figure being chased by the spies. The chase ends at an upper class school where the spies will not of course follow the man they wounded onto the school grounds. The wounded man is looking for an American student at the school by the name of Rich Evans. With his dying breath, he tells Evans to look in, "...my room at Boyne Castle." Rich with his friend Sean O'Connor set off for Boyne Castle but on the way are kidnapped by the spies. They seem to feel that Evans knows something that his older brother Tom - who unbeknown st to Rich Evans is a secret agent - knows. The indignant younger Evans replies, "...Tom's a sales representative for steel company." Evans and O'Connor manage to escape from the "bad guys." But can they make good their escape and make it to Boyne Castle with these underworld figures chasing them?
