Exactly. Most think an IQ tests can be done on a computer...

That proves they've never actually taken a real one.

The more you take IQ tests, the better you get at them...

Not really. I mean maybe some parts, but other sections you can't practice to scale.

One of my teachers back in high school persisted in trying to talk me into joining MENSA. I was all for it until she said something about being sequestered for think tanks, to hell with that.

MENSA is a joke. Just ask them about cognitive testing and they flee like rats.

I don't know if they still do it or not, but they used to require two different standardized IQ tests. One was in 7th grade, and I think the other was 10th grade. Anybody that scored within a certain percentile, think it was 98th%, ended up getting paperwork from them whether you asked for it or not. It seemed like there was definitely a recruiting aspect to them back then.

Same gig basically. It depends on the country and chapter though too. In the US for example if score high enough on cattel or i forget the other one then you can take the US mensa test, which isn't scored the same way. They actively recruit some people. I get a letter a year from them and few other groups like stratfor.

No time frame either. Any one can get a certified test with an applicable score and then go take the MENSA test in the US. Been that way since the 90s at least.

I can imagine a group of highly intelligent folks sitting around a large table, having been forced to be there would likely come up with some creative solutions to your problems alright lol.
"The think tank recommended we put bleach in it." chuckle

There are no such things.
Someone's brain has come up with a task, that brains cannot improve on, by doing it more?

So you're telling me if you practice putting a cube together from 30 pieces and then try to put one together with 28 you'll be better at it?

Lol, someone has never taken a real IQ test in their life.

People seem to focus on very stupid things. Don’t have much desire for knowledge and for the most part are pretty boring. IQ 140 here.

I can tell you that if I put a cube together of 30 pieces, 30 times.
I won't be as slow, as I was the first time.
I probably will also have become better at 25 pieces or 40 pieces cubes.
Whatever the hell that might actually be...

IQ test are more a measure of arrogance and competition between people that value appearing to be smart.

Don't worry, as soon as they found out you actually think the earth is flat you'd be free as a bird..

Do you actually enjoy following me around, or is it something you feel compelled to do?

Not likely. The puzzles are scored by time, with different sets. It's about spatial awareness and problem solving. A 30 year old putting together cubes from 30 different sets for the last 10 years will always be beaten in time by the 12 year old doing the puzzle for the first time with a higher spatial awareness and problem solving skills.

Don't get me wrong, experience is a great thing, but experience is just that. Repetition. When thrown a curve ball of even just 2 pieces being different they loose A LOT of time equaling a lower score.

Would that be like having a 100 IQ and living in a 70 IQ certified "retarded" world like that film 'Idiocracy'?
----------

Very Superior 130 and above
Superior 120-129
Bright 110-119
Average 90-109
Dull 80-89
Borderline 70-79
Retarded 69 and below

Borderline Intellectual Functioning IQ 71-84
Mild Mental Retardation IQ 50-55 to approximately 70
Moderate Retardation IQ 35-40 to 50-55
Severe Mental Retardation IQ 20-25 to 35-40
Profound Mental Retardation IQ below 20 or 25

https://youtu.be/uL73xItRtio

I live that life.

I have never tested above 136, yet I am smarter than those who have. IQ isn't a Wisdom test, just an intelligence one.

Intelligence is knowing a fire is hot.
Wisdom is knowing not to put your hand in it.
IQ test don't test for that, not do they test a persons ability to put two previously unknowns together and produce a correct and previously unknown answer.

I came to CT sites 16 years ago looking for someone smarter than me. Now I have lowered my expectations and are just looking for people as smart as me.

It is worse than living in Idiocracy.

Despite that I know people can be upgraded in Intelligence and Wisdom.
There is hope for us all.
