yeah but if you think that screwing over the little guy is the exclusive domain of republicans... c'mon. i'd suggest the only actual difference is the democrats are a bit more shady about it; republicans are overt, and democrats are covert. and that's because the supposed division isn't real. it's not f*cking real.

Some Dems certainly sell out their constituents but nowhere near as many as in the Republican party. The combined efforts are enough to stop most of the good legislation and regulation and sensible foreign policy that comes out of the democratic party but never out of the Republican party. It is not a CT it is greed and selling votes for political donations for people to remain in power with good paying jobs and the chance to go into lobbying later.

It is not a vast CT it is greed. It can be overcome it takes effort. Progress is always on the march. i just want what Canada and the EU and most of the civilized world has, tax-based single-payer health care that costs half of what the US pays (per capita) now, and fails to insure 40 million Americans, which is being made worse and worse under Trump.

time out -- for years now you have been stating how the ACA fixed this particular aspect of the problem.

All the ACA did was shift the numbers from middle-income families to lower wage families. ie. middle income families lost their insurance because it became unaffordable, and taxpayers then footed the bill for the subsidize given to lower-income families. In other words, those who just got priced out of the insurance market gets to pay for someone else's insurance.

the law was designed for and accomplished a massive redistribution of wealth. however, it wasn't all that well thought thru as this wealth at the end of the day ended up in the coffers of the insurance and healthcare industry. while the poor may have gotten subsidies, those dollars did not end up in the poor people's bank accounts. 3 guesses as to where all those tax dollars ended up... who benefitted from the ACA from the perspective of the age-old adage follow the money.

pResident tRump is trying to take pay away from
8 million low income Americans to help the large corporations

As far as I know, salaried workers never received overtime, which is why they're on salary.

It used to be when a worker already made a large salary and had to stay late, time and a half pay for however long they stayed was a very large chunk of money.

It was blocked by a Federal Judge because it was government overreach and would have led to layoffs.

As most of Obama's policies were.

Did you all forget that obama said the national minimum wage would be $15 an hour and would become effective by 2017?
Is everyone making $15 an hour minimum wage yet?

It was supposed to be the piece that would get Hillary elected... and then the big reveal when people went to renew their Medicaid benefits they would discover they were just above the acceptance threshold. Millions would be forced to signup for ACA subsidies. The gov. would save billions on the Medicaid side, the ACA would be proclaimed a success story with millions of new signups.

The average American household consisted of 2.53 people in 2018.
https://www.statista.com/statistics/1836...in-the-us/

in states that have chosen to expand their Medicaid programs, all individuals with incomes up to 138 percent of the federal poverty level (FPL) will qualify for coverage.
https://www.cff.org/Assistance-Services/...uirements/

40 x 52 = 2080 hours per year

$28,767 for a family of 3. at $15 per hour a household can work a max of 1,917 hours before losing coverage. Alternately anything over $13.83 for fulltime employees would disqualify them from Medicaid

If it's a 2 income household anything above 36 hrs a week would disqualify them and move the household onto the ACA rolls. i.e 18 hours a week each.

another way to look at it the person is making 1.17 above the threshold or .84 an hour after taxes = $1,752 per year or $33.69 per week (this will go to paying the ACA insurance premiums)

With the ACA they cannot be charged more than 9% of income... i.e 600 a week after taxes = $432 a week. So the max they can be charged per weekly paycheck for health insurance is 432*.09 =$38.88.

38.88 - 33,69 = (5.18) so they lose 5.18 per paycheck or $269 per year. Alternately they are now effectively making 13.70 an hour vs, the 13.83 cutoff for Medicaid insurance. so after paying for their own insurance, they are making less than those sitting right at the income threshold for Medicaid.

And you thought the $15 an hour was out of the kindness of Obama's heart...
