I used to work third shift security at hotels back when the minimum wage was $4.75 an hour. I was getting paid $4.60 an hour illegally with no benefits. I worked 72 hours a week to pay my rent. The lesson was to not do that for too long. It was a transitional job. Life tries to prevent you from getting too comfortable with something when it's not the right thing for you.

And I have great memories from that low paying job. I was young, just turned 21. I had a great uniform and a badge. Looked like a cop. I met these 4 girls one night working at a Hampton Inn in Knoxville. We stayed up the whole night playing cards and talking. I ended up meeting them later for a road trip to the beach. We got a hotel room for the night. Me and 4 girls. It wasn't an orgy or anything crazy, just a fun experience. Totally worth that shitty job. That one memory. Totally worth it.

im sure ghost would love a memory like that , but i have a suspicion nothing remotely like that has happened , ....at least at his current job .

When you're single its hard to eat healthy but it definitely helps. Since i improved my diet by cutting down on pizzas, eating more veggies and taking vitamine and omega 3 fishoil capsules my mood is definitely better. I am more active too.

heck even putting some veggies on the pizzas prior to baking would help

slice up an onion , some broccoli , pepper , mushroom and toss it on and into the oven it goes.

he really needs to cut out the soda though imo

I seriously don't understand what people like about soda's.

I fill a 2L bottle with water every day, so i know i drink enough. A lot of people are chronically de-hydrated, which can cause all kind of complaints.

First of all, I'm not convinced Ghost was fired. His boss was ticked off and told him
to go home. No reports of 'You're fired'.

That coupled with a bunch of emails and things for him to do online, seems to counterdict his being fired.

I'd wait till morning then ask what my status is.

the job situation aside , he has multiple other issues he deals with on a continuous basis , which never seem to resolve themselves.

That's because most situations don't magically resolve themselves, ona has to actually DO something about it.

For what it's worth I don't think Ghost has lost his job either, his colleague just didn't want to hear the whining. As in...

"Jeeze I get it, you're going home. Go already, just spare me the whining"

Honestly, even if he didn't change professions right away, ANY other security job would probably pay more than he's been making. This whole thing may just be a blessing in disguise.

RE: good advice for GHOST OF LOP thread
I had really high blood pressure once last year when I dislocated a finger and worked overnight until I could get it 'fixed'. They told me one of my blood pressure readings was just over 200, which is really (they say stroke) high. Anyway I don't entirely believe everything most people will tell you, because a lot of the times it is half truths. So you got to go seek out stuff yourself to verify that works for you in your experience. Anyway, I've found having high blood pressure may be an indication of stroke or heart attack coming...I think it may not be all cookie cutter as most health practicioners would sell it to you. For instance the reason a person has high blood pressure is because it is getting rid of the poisons in body and you are also needing to get your vital organs MORE oxygen since it's depleting the poisons, whether that be sugar or other things that can be classified as too much or poison. Anyway, since the 200+ blood pressure I have noticed some changes in my body experience. I don't think it ruined the kidneys, but I realize it can and I need to try to nurse that myself more back to being productive and healthy kidney before it would go kaput on me; which it hasn't. But am slowly monitoring my situations regarding. Anyway, good on you OP. Great suggestions in thread. It could start with what we physically put in our bodies and then later more focus on excersize after feeling better/nursing first condition which is cause by thought energies (i think) as well as what you physically have been eating. Then daily walks down the road couldn't help but retain even better health. I think the sugar too could be effecting the lower legs/ankles. But I'm not an expert. Anyway, little steps greatly add up even if you think it like a penny or worthless. It eventually adds up to dollars and much more, metaphorically. Go easy and start getting down to more serious business about your life and do some hard work; sticking with it and seeing it through. You won't be disappointed, but you have to start getting over these humps, hurdles and speed-bumps that have kept you, perhaps, in the same speed-bump cycles if one can reach understanding of what I'm trying to relay. It seems like a wall, but it is only a speed-bump to get over. Hope this helps some one. Whoever.

What I gathered was that a party from the property had to arrive pissed. They are likely calling the security company demanding his job. If they are as understaffed as it seems than he may be able to save his job but working a different area. However when I consider what I would do if I had an employee who liked to bit*h about their assignments and then pulled this on me I might just say f*#k it and fire them.

I think sugar, like most things we put in body, mind or spirit...can be addictive if not checked and balanced. Then to get deeper into the onion of food...HFCS a sub for sugar today used quite a bit...our bodies don't naturally absorb and digest except for how it gets deposited in the fat cells, where most poison sits and waits until the body has to eat it from nutritional starvation after eating for a extended period of time...franken-food that just isn't natural anymore.

For people struggling with depression that "actually doing something about it" is really not that easy. No matter how much you want something you can't turn it into deeds.

I never ate that healthy either, lots of frozen pizzas, fried food, processed food, etc. I have tried switching to healthier food before but habits are hard to shake, so i always fell back in my old routine. But now for the past 4 months or so I succeeded in making big chances in my diet. And I definitely notice a difference. A better and bigger difference than any of the anti-depressants i took over the years.

Because you don't notice differences right away it's easy to fall back, but living healthier is really helping very much for people struggling with depression.

I've suggested to him quite a few times to try some St. John's Wort. I think I even offered to buy him some. It's harmless to the body, not very expensive, and pulled me out of a suicidal depression more than once.

RE: good advice for GHOST OF LOP thread
I'm so sorry to hear about Ghost's job situation! He's a really good person and it's sad to hear of unfortunate news. Just a few suggestions if his employment status changes for the worse:

1. Apply for unemployment benefits through your state immediately. The state unemployment offices may be able to help find you work as well. https://www.tripsavvy.com/unemployment-b...tte-584139

2. It's "any port in the storm" so you need to get your resume up to date quickly and send it out to as many online employment services as possible and grab one that pays decent with health benefits. After that, continue looking for a better suited long term job. You definitely have a lot of strengths to talk about: long term employment history, dependable, ability to work alone, etc. There are several jobs at this site: https://www.ziprecruiter.com/Jobs/-in-Asheville,NC

3. You need health insurance and you should be able to qualify for free or low-cost coverage through Medicaid. https://www.healthcare.gov/medicaid-chip/

To add to what I said about St. John's wort, my feeling is that if he could get a handle on the depression, life/luck would probably turn around for him. [/align]

looks as though one of our most loyal posters has fallen on hard times as of late , and is in need of some guidance and direction . this thread exists for the sole purpose of people giving their opinion on how he can improve his situation .

my contribution is to improve your diet . cut out the junk food and sodas and eat vegetables , beans , whole grains and small amounts of meat and dairy . no extravagant fast food purchases . this should go a long way in decreasing inflammation in the body which is probably a large factor in your problem with your leg .

Omega 3 fish oil capsules aren't that expensive either. Taking them since 5-6 weeks. Just because you notice your thinking improves and your memory gets better, you feel better. And when you feel better, you want to do things that make you feel better.
