RE: Sciatic pain
Stand up facing a desk. Lift up a leg and rest your foot on the desk. Turn your body inward and hold it. When your right foot is up turn left and vice versa. It's good to be near something to hold onto to keep your balance. You can also stand at the bottom of a staircase and lift your leg up until your heel rests on a step that's at a height for your leg to be straight out. Hold stretches for 45 seconds. Maybe do 30 seconds if you can't hold for that long.

Anyone have great tips for sciatica? I'm going to have to spend the whole day doing pain management. So horrible.. woke me up in the middle of the night. Can't lie down or sit down.

Tissue

I have this, I was told by the doctor to exercise, but specific type of exercise. Perhaps a heat pack or something would help?

Always a clean chop.

RE: Sciatic pain
Try putting a coldpack behind your lower back to see if you have Stenosis, wherein your arthritis is squeezing the nerves in your spine. If that is the problem, the pain goes away quickly.

Also there is a " neutral position" to rest in, research that.

the question is what triggers it?

RE: Sciatic pain
Before my trip to the laser spine guys, i would roll a towel lightly and put it crosswise under my back. Usually knock the pain down a little. In fact surgery was awesome fix, but i still do the towel, found out my whole back just feels happier. I still do some of the stretching also.

RE: Sciatic pain
They went in and removed small bit of bone setting on that nerve. 30 minute surgery, instant f*cking relief. 10 years ago, and i am still working for a living on my feet, happily.

A long cotton bag or long densely knit sock - half fill it with cheap, uncooked Chinese rice (not good stuff like Basmati). Then close the end of the bag. Microwave for two minutes or until warm enough. Sit with this bag along the lower back or bum or down the back/side of your affected leg. The heat treatment does wonders. Good luck.
