And where was the militarys training beyond putting newspaper in concrete cracks. Isnt that something a-nuclear nation should have training in?

most nuke power plants are just a front for what is really being done there, like at fukushima.

The levels of radiation from reactor 1 shows that is was used to enrich uranium, and not boil water to create steam.

That is against the treaties to do so, and nothing has been done about it.

So why did Japan need so many nuke plants, when geo thermal could power the whole nation instead.

Sum ting wong, chuckle

Three Mile Island accident March 28, 1979
The Chernobyl disaster, 25–26 April 1986
Fukushima nuclear disaster March 11, 2011

At least the Russians have tried to mitigate this accident.

Many thousands of Russian firefighters and military gave their lives to try to help others.

I remember watching the news at the time about Chernobyl.
That was the scariest thing ever, people still believed in the notion of China syndrome back then.
The idea that a reactor that breached would turn into liquid and melt through the earth until it hit China or an underground water source.
The thought was one melt down could kill everyone from radioactive fallout.
Of course that was assuming all the material in the reactor would stay molten and together like a thermal lance.
The reality that is known, now that its happened, is the material goes super critical and starts melting through the earth, as it melts certain materials those materials are mixed with the radioactive elements diluting them, forming a mixture or alloy which reduces the reaction.
These materials sometimes have air or water trapped in a porous configuration, when these melt they cause mini explosions as the pressure is released, this disperses the radioactive elements reducing the mass and the reaction.
Eventually the material is diluted enough that the reaction does not produce enough heat to melt any further.
The greatest danger is when the meltdown first happens because the emissions are so high and radioactive debris is blown everywhere.
The best solution is to cap the hole and let it sit, it will cool itself.
Spraying water on it is a bad idea because the bad stuff just spreads quicker and rides the steam.

Thats fine. We will create base destroyers for future reference.

What if something major happens and we can not provide electricity and the grid is shutdown for a long time ? No fuel for generators and no one can get to work.

MELT DOWN X 50

Time to migrate to somewhere safe without those issues, like mexico or canada, chuckle

But no place would be safe if they all melted down.

Just watched the first episode of the Mini Series Chernobyl on HBO

Who ever says Nuclear Power plants are safe are full of sh*t !

If something goes boom the doom is worse then the good.

Well... Not a fan of BWR/PWR or graphite reactors.

But the plant was gen 1 technology.

The day crew was doing a test of the reactor and had shut off some of the safety systems.

The test took too long and was in progress when night shift took over.

The handoff wasn't great and the night shift botched the test and the reactor went out of control.

The test was supposed to be completed by the day shift because the night shift wasn't viewed as competent enough to do it.

It is like the Challenger disaster. The engineers were screaming "don't go" and management overrode them.

You have to be some kind of idiot to be running a commercial reactor with the safety systems disabled.

They were some kind of idiot.

3 mile was first...
Wow.. I did not think it was that old.

Three Mile Island accident March 28, 1979
The Chernobyl disaster, 25–26 April 1986
Fukushima nuclear disaster March 11, 2011

You forget Simi valley, in the 50s-60s. The worst Nuclear disaster in U.S. history. 400 times greater than that of three mile island.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVhtygifsuE

Video description.
Documentary film covering the top secret 1959 Sodium Reactor meltdown in Los Angeles, California. The incident, kept secret for decades, resulted in the deaths of an estimated 300 to 1,800 people and is the suspected source of elevated cancer rates in adjacent suburban communities. The amount of contaminants released have been estimated at over 400 times that of the highly publicized Three Mile Island incident. This film features accounts from former Atomics International employees detailing the incident that sent highly radioactive gases over parts of Los Angeles for two weeks. Employees also recall illegal acts of mass pollution such as open burn pits that sent radioactive waste into the open air for decades. These experiments took place at the Santa Susana Field Laboratory, in the hills between Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley and Simi Valley.
The film gathers comprehensive incident footage and testimonial interviews with local survivors, physicians, scientists, researchers and reporters regarding the 1959 meltdown and the grassroots movements to clean the site in order to save generations from exposure to it's migrating contaminants. PLEASE SHARE THIS FILM!! PEOPLE DESERVE TO KNOW THE TRUTH.
