WTF? Trump's white house instructs 81 Trump associates to ignore Congress: report

This is blatant continuation of Trump's illegal obstruction of justice. Scream1

This is really unprecedented and the courts are not going to uphold this Trump acting like a king, BS.

White House takes stonewalling to new level — and instructs 81 Trump associates to ignore Congress: report

"The Trump White House on Wednesday took its stonewalling of Congress to a new level.

The Washington Post’s Rachael Bade reports that the White House has told the House Judiciary Committee that it is “instructing folks not to comply with the doc requests sent to 81 Trump allies and affiliates” by Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) earlier this year.

Rachael Bade

HAPPENING NOW: THe WH tells Judiciary that it is instructing folks not to comply with the doc requests sent to 81 Trump allies and [email protected] & @jdawsey1https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/no-do-over-on-mueller-probe-white-house-lawyer-tells-house-panel-saying-demands-for-records-staff-testimony-will-be-refused/2019/05/15/1ad19728-7715-11e9-b3f5-5673edf2d127_story.html?utm_term=.f3c8061c23a2&wpisrc=al_news__alert-politics--alert-national&wpmk=1 …

In a letter sent to Nadler, White House attorneys accused the House Judiciary Chairman of trying to have a “do-over” of the Mueller investigation while also arguing Congress has no right to investigate the executive branch for how it exercises its powers.

“Congressional investigations are intended to obtain information to aid in evaluating potential legislation, not to harass political opponents or to pursue an unauthorized ‘do-over’ of exhaustive law enforcement investigations conducted by the Department of Justice,” the letter said.

It is Department of Justice policy that a sitting president cannot be indicted, which leaves Congress as the only institution that is capable of holding the president liable for criminal wrongdoing while he is serving in the White House."

Nadler fires back at the White House for treating Trump like a king as they attempt to thwart investigations

"House Democrats and the White House are in a gridlock battle over investigations into President Donald Trump. On Thursday, House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler slammed the White House after they refused a request to turn over documents.

In a letter, White House Counsel Pat Cipollone declined a request from Nadler to turn over documents regarding the probe claiming that Nadler was seeking to harass the president.

“It appears that the Committee’s inquiry is designed, not to further a legitimate legislative purpose, but rather to conduct a pseudo law enforcement investigation on matters that were already the subject of the Special Counsel’s long-running investigation and are outside the constitutional authority of the legislative branch,” Cipollone wrote in the letter.

During an interview with CNN’s Manu Raju, Nadler scrutinized the White House for treating Trump like a king. He called the White House refusal to abide by the request “preposterous.”

“This is the White House claiming that the president is a king. This is the White House saying that the Justice Department said they can’t hold the president accountable because you can’t indict a president and now they’re saying neither can Congress. So the president is totally unaccountable and above the law. No president, no person in the United States is above the law. This is preposterous,” he said.

[email protected] responds, calling the White House claim “outrageous” and pledging that the House Judiciary committee will hear from both McGahn and Mueller at some point. He is not ruling out inherent contempt (such as fines) for Barr in addition to civil contempt.
In addition, he noted that they would not rule out extreme measures to retrieve the documents.

Nadler's March 4th request -- made before the Mueller Report's release -- sought documents from 81 people connected to Donald Trump in a wide-ranging inquiry touching on corruption/emoluments and alleged abuses of power ... not just Russia/Mueller-related subjects.

“Nadler and other House Democratic leaders are now raising the prospect they will hold numerous administration officials in contempt at the same time as part of a package to highlight the Trump administration’s stonewalling of Congress. Some Democrats are also talking about invoking Congress’ so-called inherent contempt powers to fine or jail those who defy congressional subpoenas,” a report from CNN said."

Jerry Nadler Doesn't Sugarcoat It: AG Barr Is 'A Liar'
The Gloves are Off.

During a wide-ranging interview with CNBC's John Harwood, Rep. Jerry Nadler did not pull any punches about his feelings for Donald Trump's Attorney General.

In response to William Barr's mischaracterization of the Mueller report about claims of no collusion with the Russians and no obstruction of justice, the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee said, "Bill Barr is just a liar"

John Harwood brought up the impeachment of Andrew Johnson in the 1800s and the advocates that were for impeachment.

Harwood: Do you think of it that way as you’re investigating President Trump? And if there’s a larger issue about him and his conduct, what is it?

Jerry Nadler: Certainly on many issues, you have to deal with the specifics. And the larger issue – well, you’ve got three issues, really.

It starts off with, this president and his campaign. If you read the Mueller report, there was tons of evidence that they knew the Russians were interfering with the election on their behalf. They welcomed it, they wanted it, and they coordinated with it. Colluded, in a word. There’s no question about that.

John Harwood: Despite Bill Barr saying over and over, “no collusion.”

Jerry Nadler: Bill Barr is just a liar. And, he’s just representing the president.

The second clear conclusion is, there are 12 episodes of obstruction of justice. Beyond all that is the basic question: They’re trying to say that Congress, representing the American people, can’t get information, and therefore, can’t function. The effect of that is to make the president a monarch, to make him a dictator. And that’s what we’ve got to fight.

John Harwood: You actually think Bill Barr is just lying, as opposed to being a defender of the person who put him in the attorney general’s job?

Jerry Nadler: You could have two interpretations of Bill Barr’s motives. The less charitable interpretation is he’s doing whatever he has to do, to protect the president personally. And he’ll hide whatever he has to hide. Lied may be too strong a word, but he certainly misrepresented very strongly what was in the report.

What’s wrong with harassing and persecuting Trump and his whole family?
I hope in 50 years even B^ron’s life is a living hell of never ending subpoenas.

Damn straight. The clown show is over & when the IG report is released, the "real" show begins.
It was all an attempt to discredit Barr & an attempt to make him break the law, and, be held in contempt.
Congress is a bunch of clowns, so enthralled with putting on a circus act, they failed to realise, nobody is buying tickets to their anti-Trump, politicized circle jerk, except for other clowns.

Not wise. That is obstruction of justice.

There'd have to be justice to obstruct.
The police can't go on fishing expeditions and neither can Congress.
The only evidence they have is either made up or gotten through entrapment type means.
No probable cause for further investigation.
