Its because it comes from composers more in contact with the unconscious and that speaks to us through out the centuries; like the Beatles etc.

Pop music has been around since forever. it is the music
of the masses.

comparing pop to classical is like comparing bananas to apples,
it just does not work.

pitting them against each other is like the right and left hands fighting each other. self-defeating and best.

both are meant to work with each other, . .each with a different
grasp upon the human experience, . .each with a different
expression of the human soul.

Because classical music is the basis of all music to follow.

Instrumental music stands the test of time because it's missing lyrics that mark it with a time period.

Lyrics
I used to rule the world
Seas would rise when I gave the word
Now in the morning, I sleep alone
Sweep the streets I used to own
I used to roll the dice
Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes
Listen as the crowd would sing
Now the old king is dead! Long live the king!
One minute I held the key
Next the walls were closed on me
And I discovered that my castles stand
Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand
I hear Jerusalem bells are ringing
Roman Cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror, my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can't explain
Once you go there was never, never a honest word
And that was when I ruled the world
It was a wicked and wild wind
Blew down the doors to let me in
Shattered windows and the sound of drums
People couldn't believe what I'd become
Revolutionaries wait
For my head on a silver plate
Just a puppet on a lonely string
Oh, who would ever want to be king?
I hear Jerusalem bells are ringing
Roman Calvary choirs are singing
Be my mirror, my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can't explain
I know Saint Peter won't call my name
Never an honest word
But that was when I ruled the world
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
I hear Jerusalem bells are ringing
Roman Calvary choirs are singing
Be my mirror, my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can't explain
I know Saint Peter won't call my name
Never an honest word
But that was when I ruled the world

That's right nobody listens to it. So why is it still being pushed. Is there an agenda. Imagine how many potential musicians including singers who have no interest in pursuing music because the school system pushes school marching bands and orchestras that turns off most. Children love the right kind of music but the slave masters want to push what is of no interest to anyone but those who want to play like they are intellectual or educated.

Composing music teaches one how to communicate. Once the theory is learned it can be forgotten and the spirit can compose cohesive lines of emotional communication at will.

RE: Why does Classical Music stand the test of time ?
actually I find most classical music to be unoriginal, repetitive, not very imaginative, of not much emotional impact

compare a classical tract to a good modern guitar solo

but what I do like about it is that it provides background music thats not distracting

id prefer classical music to just about any other in a coffee shop for example, usually I'm working on something and the music they play is distracting

classical music is pleasant and not distracting, you can concentrate on other things

Not all classical music is good. The atonal, contemporary, post modern and so on is mostly crap.

The answer is in the name of the genre, they’re classical classics, Mozart wasn't suckered into a record deal where his only freedom for music was to crap out the “freshest” of songs, the type of songs hat get forgotten about in less than a year.

RE: Why does Classical Music stand the test of time ?
Because it is pure and touches the soul

Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Vivaldi, Tchaicovsky, Handel, Wagner

More modern....Basil Poledouris was amazing. Basil composed the original Conan soundtrack ( I watched it last night on cable)

Classical also offers inspirations to jazz it up a bit...
