This has happened to me once, and hopefully never again.

Same here, in Utah on a very hot sunny day. By sheer luck I was not alone and was force fed water. I largely recovered without medical intervention. It did affect me for years after that though, and I'm very leery about direct sun.
Same here. Got to the point of cramps headache etc. Was out several miles from anything! Before I could work all day in 100 degree weather all day no problem, now in later years 30 minutes in 95 degree weather & I'm done. Two other people I know same thing. So be careful it alters your body!!! NOTE - If you're going outside or working hard you need to start slugging down water the day before! If it hits and you start guzzling water it's pretty much too late. Use your pee as a gauge. If it's dark you definitely need to hydrate!!!

lopdude will stay hydrated all day today, temps will be near 100 again. and if needs be, go to a cooling center where they will have cold drinks and cots to lie down on

RE: i suffered from heat stroke yesterday!
1. Glad you made it.

2. Cooling Center? Is that a room at work? Employers should send heat stroked employees to emergency room. If they don't ... you know what to do.

3. My trick for the common heat exhaustion I get here in Texas is first, get into shade, second removes any hat AND shoes and socks! Yes, our feet and our head are like cooling valves and they don't get activated if air doesn't get to them. This is IMPORTANT! Hats AND shoes and socks.

4. Hot days have a glass of gatorade (but don't overdo it as that creates different problems.) Follow-up with about 3 glasses of cool but not cold water. Do that before going out and once every hour or two, depending on the extremity of the heat.

5. Don't forget convection! Moving air, a fan, or a "breezeway" like old homes in the South had - a natural breezeway can often be found in between buildings in the city. So as soon as you get shade, hat and feet attire removed, and a glass of water down - locate a breezeway. You said you had "cooling rooms". I never heard of that but I suppose it's your normal in a Yankee state or some Northern cold country where you don't have a/c.

6. Dress appropriately for hot weather - COTTON! 100% cotton.

i was very concerned more about my parents...they are in their 80's..at that age mixed with heat isnt good. somehow they didnt fall to the effects. i dont think i was drinking enough

Old folks start losing their sense of thirst and don't drink enough water.

Just discovered this for my older, post-menopausal self. Cotton/Poly blends make me sweat! Even for bed sheets. After waking up drenched in sweat, I had to switch to 100% cotton sheets. Can't wear those stretchy jeans in summer because they have synthetic content.

RE: i suffered from heat stroke yesterday!
Happened to me a couple of years ago. Knocked me on my ass for a week and I am still vulnerable and have to be very cautious about sun exposure.

The same day I went down, a man 20 years younger than me, and a boy scout leader to boot, went down for keeps(died)after a morning hike with his troop. That was just a mile or so from where I was.

You have to keep your skin and head covered. You have to have electrolytes in your water because your salts come out when you sweat, not just water.

And it is not just heat, it is the UV radiation level. Turns out that the day I went down, UV was over 10. Fried me.
