I once had heat exhaustion on a sunny 103 degree day here in Northwest Georgia when I decided to take a six mile hike just to see if I could do it (manic episode). When I was about halfway through the hike I suddenly began feeling very weak and dizzy. Within a short while I had to sit down before I fell down. Fortunately there was a little clear water creek flowing no more than fifteen or twenty yards away. I crawled to and into the creek. The water felt almost cold compared to the air. Recovery from the heat exhaustion was slow compared to the onset, but the cool water and rest lying in a little creek did the trick. I took the shortest route a paved road and hitchhiked home. I had a hard time getting a ride being soaking wet.

this summer will be hot

And this summer will be cold. Depends upon location. This past weekend was the perfect pre summer weather 3 straight days of 70+ and sunny. First since late Sept early October 2018. Other than that it has been miserably rainy, cloudy, and unseasonably cold the spring. I hope it stays comfortable cool. I don't do well in 90+ heat.

Quote: Heat stroke is the most serious form of heat injury and is considered a medical emergency. If you suspect that someone has heat stroke -- also known as sunstroke -- call 911 immediately and give first aid until paramedics arrive.

Heat stroke can kill or cause damage to the brain and other internal organs. Although heat stroke mainly affects people over age 50, it also takes a toll on healthy young athletes

Happened to me a couple of years ago. Knocked me on my ass for a week and I am still vulnerable and have to be very cautious about sun exposure.

The same day I went down, a man 20 years younger than me, and a boy scout leader to boot, went down for keeps(died)after a morning hike with his troop. That was just a mile or so from where I was.

You have to keep your skin and head covered. You have to have electrolytes in your water because your salts come out when you sweat, not just water.

And it is not just heat, it is the UV radiation level. Turns out that the day I went down, UV was over 10. Fried me.

I have almost died a time or two from heat stroke. I remember very little about the second time, I thought I was freezing to death, then I remember nothing, and woke up in a triage chain to vomit all over the person sitting next to me. Then I feel head first onto the floor. Woke up again, two days later. It took a couple weeks to feel somewhat normal again. UV A & B at 10-12 nm is bad enough for heat stroke to set in pretty quickly. I've seen mid upper teens most every summer since 2011. However UV C is being measured at ground level. I saw a measurement of 47 nm out of AZ, not two weeks ago. UV C "isn't, supposed to make it to the ground. Next, it is most plausible to surmise seeing elevated levels of cosmic rays making it to ground. If they already aren't? Seen Antarctica has had a couple cosmic ray outburst as well.

You're the self centered pip squeak! Get back in the doggie chew toy box where you belong! This is a VERY appropriate and timely thread for this time of year in the Northern hemisphere.

RE: i suffered from heat stroke yesterday!
Wow that sucks

I have never actually had one but I think I was close a couple times

I distinctly recall sweating my balls off and feeling like I was in a furnace and then suddenly feeling cool and almost chilled...

I sat down and drank lots of "ROOM TEMPERATURE" water

drinking ice water when over heated is really bad thing to do

I would suggest one of these...

It's what i use when landscaping in the heat. It literally makes you feel 10 degrees cooler. And it has been in the 90s for a week straight already.

Take it easy there and recoup, no over exertion slap

+1

Misdirection is the key to survival, never attack what your enemy defends, never behave as your enemy expects, and never reveal your true strength, if knowledge is power then to be unknown is to be unconquerable.

RE: i suffered from heat stroke yesterday!
Are you elderly OP? Or do you happen to set your air conditioning to very cold levels when you are home, to where it shocks your body that badly when you go outside in 90 degree heat??

I have spent many hours trapped in traffic in my previous car which had no AC. On days where the temperatures were well over 100 degrees with no breeze stuck on the roadway. I was sweating so badly for up to an hour that my socks AND sneakers were soaked from sweat. Imagine how soldiers feel in the desert in full uniform carrying 60-70+ on their backs in 100+ temps.

A lot of people set their AC in their home to near Arctic temperatures, paying huge electric bills, and then they cant handle being outside during a nice summer day. 1dunno1

Also I sweat so badly during those times that every dollar and receipt in my wallet was dripping wet when I got home...
