All shipping was banned from a major Russian port for a month today after an explosion at a secretive military facility triggered a radiation leak.

The Ministry of Defense says there is no excess radiation, it seems that the facts are different ... It was advised to close their windows and take the iodine, 44 drops / glass of water

It's somewhat serious. Serious enough that earlier I checked null winds and rad charts for Ak.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-49275577

"They advise everyone to close their windows and drink iodine, 44 drops per glass of water."

Would only make sense if a nuclear reactor released fission products into the environment. Maybe the story about the ship is the right one.

No,they have changed that, now they are admitting to it. But still down playing it.

Remember they kept Chernobyl secret from the world for three days then another three before evacuating the citizens.

If immigrants are freeloaders why does ICE always raid workplaces?

So they are admitting a nuclear reactor leaked into the environment?

Russian authorities closed an area of ~250 km² (~30×8 km) for shipping due to a deadly incident on #Nyonoksa (#Nenoksa) naval missile testing range (link: http://www.mapm.ru/PripAr) mapm.ru/PripAr
For the reference, the wind here is southerly ↑ acc. to GFS model.

Right now they are admitting to a slight increase in rads, for a short period of time that's all. My guess is the story will change at least 4 more times. chuckle

Closing a port for at least a month as a result, is pretty hard core.

Correct about the wind direction, for now at least. Winds change. As I mentioned earlier, I had checked the winds to make sure it wasn't swept into the Artic vortex to go "sailing" around the artic circle. It was coming back inland like a sailor who spits in the wind and gets hit in the face with his own spit.

RE: Did Russia just have a serious nuclear accident?
So many seemingly unrelated radiation stories from Russia all of a sudden. Remember that "planetary catastrophe" narrowly avoided with 14 killed in the Russian sub last month and the Russian sub that sunk in the 1980's near Norway they just found spewing out a million times normal levels of radiation.

Holy sh*t!

Dvina Bay near #Arkhangelsk closed for a month by Russian MoD after the explosion in #Nenoksa

This is a huge area
