Lopers do have a fine taste to music.

Cheers folks!

I do not label myself. What I stand for is based on my own convictions, and I don't care which box - the left one or the right one - they happen to belong to.

I think I might also take my rather fine collection of 78s.

It is a fine thing to be honest, but it is also very important to be right. - Winston Churchill

I am always intrigued by Top 10 Lists, especially when it comes to music.

For starters, what constitutes an album?

I remember buying Albums. I remember 8-Tracks. I remember buying cassettes. I remember building a CD collection. I remember spending hours and hours digitizing my entire CD collection into MP3 format and storing on a portable drive. I remember migrating that data to a Solid State Drive. I remember shaking my head when I realized that all my work was unnecessary as I could now simply stream my entire music collection from any number of streaming services.

But back to what is an album.
Does a double album count? The White Album by The Beatles is a double album and was only sold as a double album.

How about Triple Albums? All Things Must Pass by George Harrison is a triple album. It was only sold as a triple album, as was Triplicate by Bob Dylan.

So now that we have determined, that an album must not consist of a simple, single album, we are posed with another dilemma. If an album is not limited in length, then should we consider the RETROSPECTIVE BOX SET to be considered as a single album.

Consider. Most Retrospective Box Sets come as a complete set, and in many instances, a very specifically designed package that is unique to that BOX SET, often creating a unique album package.

So, if we now consider a box set to be considered an album, as well as double and triple albums. We can now examine our choices carefully. Should we limit ourselves to a single album containing 11 songs by an artist, or should we instead take the 231 track career retrospective?

But a more important question need be asked. Why limit yourself to 10 artist?

While some artists are incredibly talented and worthy of inclusion, you are going to a desert island, ostensibly for the rest of your life, with no chance of changing your mind.

Variety as they say is the spice of life. Maybe having a collection of ten variety albums might just keep you from going insane.

Soo True.. chuckle
