yeeeah that's the way it goes these days. You gotta be mother theresa or something to get a dog from a rescue place, and it's expensive. It's not like you're gonna raise a dog that sh!ts gold. Blink

How I see it, no matter where you get them from you are saving them. Heartflowers

I'm glad your cat is getting along or used to him. Cheer

A cross between 2 headstrong breeds will need to learn who is the pack leader.
You.
I have neighbors who never learned that they had to teach their dogs manners.
They suffered, but the dogs suffered more.
I rescued a Doberman with serious man-hating issues years ago. My group paid for me to take her to obedience school. Money well spent. Her adopters used her as a a therapy dog and everyone loves her now.
Best wishes to both you and pooch.

Beagles are highly underrated as high IQ dogs. Chom, they can escape from Alcatraz.
That mixed furball looks like something that I would end up with. I With those yuuge feet, he will also be a good eater.

RE: I got a doggy
Super cute !

He will grow to be a very powerful dog

Raise him right!

I see idiots ( not implying you are one) letting big dogs drag them around on a leash ... stupid people get dogs for stupid reasons

Go to “The Art or Raising a Puppy” - either buy or it might be in the library - written 25 years ago by

The Monks of Newskeet who raise those Belgian Malinois huge powerful dogs successfully and charge $5000 to train them for police etc

They know dogs

Main theme

Your dog is part of your pack and YOU are the ALPHA dog and must be respected !

Dogs will constantly try to establish dominance - don’t let that happen - your dog will be happier - they don’t make good decisions on their own as leaders - but are HAPPY to let an established Alpha to tell them and train them what to do.

Example : Do NOT let the puppy stand on your chest or gaze down at you - he is establishing dominance. My toy dog would get up on the back of the couch to look down on me when she didn’t want to do something )haha) -

It is a King or the Hill thing - don’t let him look down on you. And for now / let the Cat have a perch above him but close so he can’t look down on the cat / and he won’t cause trouble with it later .
