That's a good idea I just have an old gortex jacket with my bug out bag in my truck.

It’s easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled.

I wear Chippewa 11" Engineer Boots. I have bought 2 pairs in 30 years. I still own and wear both pairs. My newest pair was bought in 2011.

Buy something that lasts.

I saw great deals at REI during their big in-store sale day of slightly used and repaired and returned items. You could look on line and find out when the next sale is in your area. My brother finds lots of thrift store boots and shoes.

Best of luck.

Thrift store boots are dangerous because some people have foot fungus...

We had a cute kid in high school.
Anyways we had a fight, the cute kid went to the dean first and lied to him.
And the dean believed him.
and I got in trouble.

So we had the reunion and the cute kid is in prison. LOL

Anyways there is foot fungus all over prison and you have to wear old shoes in the shower so you do not get it.

and never wear another persons shoes.

Sounds like solid advice, I never would have considered foot fungus. Good think I don't buy used boots.

Each year I get a pair of boots from Cabelas - the Grand Mesa Low Hiker. They aren't in stock this year. I think they aren't making them anymore.

I can't just get crap shoes from Wal-Mart because I walk so much I wear the treads off cheap shoes. After a couple months they're smooth on the bottom like bowling shoes. The Cabelas hiking boots would last a whole year for me.

I'm looking around now for a new pair. I usually get one in Fall so I have good treads to last me through winter.

I'm looking at the Moab 2 from Merrell but they cost over 100 dollars and ouch that's a lot for boots. Plus what happens if I get them and the treads wear off like Wal-Mart shoes?

https://www.merrell.com/US/en/moab-2-tac...1W#reviews

Anyone wear Merrell? How do they hold up?

I have had several pair of merrel shoes, they are good but not as good as they should be for the price imo. I don't know about the boots.

I fear not pain nor death, my only fear is living without honor.

I got some decent ones at Academy Sports for $50.

If you want Made in America:

I was looking at them but unfortunately they don't have anything available in my size.

I have clown feet.

This is all you need. In Assorted Colors.

Dickies Tee Shirts With Pocket.
Dickies Shorts With Tech Pocket for phone.
Converse Tennis shoes.
Socks and Underwear to match.

I wear the Same thing every day.
Blue, Grey, Black, Green, khaki.

Then you need 2 suits.

One for funerals.

Become a minimalist, its much cheaper that way.

Title explains what is wrong with our system.
Finding the cheapest without considering costs involved other than financial.

This is why we have no general prosperity.

What Is the Velocity of Money?
The velocity of money is a measurement of the rate at which money is exchanged in an economy. It is the number of times that money moves from one entity to another.

https://www.investopedia.com/terms/v/velocity.asp

In a healthy economy money CYCLES this way:

Butcher---->baker------->candlestick maker------>dentist----->construction worker------->tool maker------>tire shop----->butcher.

It cycles round and round and the same money incentives a lot of work and productivity.

Ecommerce and free trade changes it to this:

Paycheck----->Amazon---->Wallstreet------>China

Nobody wants to pay EACH OTHER ANYTHING anymore because we can't "afford" to.

Because we aren't prosperous.

But I can't fault Silversides for looking for cheap boots. It's a systemic problem created by oligarchs.

There is no such thing as sovereign debt. Reinstate Greenbacks.

I'm just as guilty looking for deals.

It is amazing what "low prices" does to our morals.
