We're a sad-sack species. Built for ease of handling and falsely believing there's a choice.

This is just another level of recruiting station and clearing house. Enjoy.

She might have been old, for all we know, when Napoleon fought at Waterloo, inky-dinky parlez-vous!

RE: The spy who trolled me, real story
Update: met King Mob, who looked exactly as he does in the comics, and come to think of it, perhaps I've seen the like before, carrying a briefcase ahead of me, whose sphere of dark energy was afraid and veered off after a few blocks. This one was leading a tall Northern Chinese man around town, and they were eager enough to talk for 30 seconds, asking about my accent, and then firmly indicated that I should go on my way when the train got to the station, but kept talking. Another guy in my destination with the same bald look went on about 'Oh, but all my friends are billionaires, and what they want is'.. they want recruits and drones in some crusade whose real goal they never will reveal, is what I'm getting to. I see no difference between one transnational network of rich people and just about any other, who just dress shabbier.

We're a sad-sack species. Built for ease of handling and falsely believing there's a choice.

One of (plenty of) things that PKD got right was that the ultimate choice is the choice of refusal.

From the same 1978 essay:

"The authentic human being is one of us who instinctively knows what he should not do, and, in addition, he will balk at doing it. He will refuse to do it, even if this brings down dread consequences to him and to those whom he loves. This, to me, is the ultimately heroic trait of ordinary people; they say no to the tyrant and they calmly take the consequences of this resistance. Their deeds may be small, and almost always unnoticed, unmarked by history. Their names are not remembered, nor did these authentic humans expect their names to be remembered. I see their authenticity in an odd way: not in their willingness to perform great heroic deeds but in their quiet refusals. In essence, they cannot be compelled to be what they are not.

Castaneda said something very similar:

"The sorcerers' revolution," he continued, "is that they refuse to honor agreements in which they did not participate."

I've had my fair share of people trying to pull me into agreements I didn't participate in, and down into a place where they'd be able to control me more easily.

Fortunately, I've been prepared for such attempts long before I even remember.

Looking back now, I can see a whole life had been prepared for me, to get a job at the U.S. and travel the world, far and wide. To, maybe, even become famous and admired by many...

... and, also looking back, I can see now how that whole life would've been a complete sham designed for one, single practical purpose: to waste as much of my time as possible. To preemptively put me in a position of powerlessness, from which I would not be able to do literally anything, having made myself completely available and open to assaults from all sides.

I refused that life... and I'm refusing all the crap that's still being pushed my way.

Right now, that crap includes me taking part in the political life in my country (Serbia), and, quite possibly, becoming a president, or PM, or something, a couple of years down the line... and the CIA could do absolutely nothing to prevent that from happening.

But I'm refusing to go down that path, seeing how completely pointless it would be.

I am now even refusing "the rules of the game" of this fake "reality", opting to play by my own rules... the rules that I keep constantly changing in order to keep my (numerous) foes on the tips of their toes.

Castaneda (or, rather, his "teacher") got another thing quite right: world is full of unreal phantoms... whose only purpose of existence is to make you waste as much of your time as possible on the most meaningless things possible.

The "rich" and the "powerful" are least free, and most helpless and powerless things in existence, and if they weren't so worthy of utter contempt and despise, one would even be tempted to feel sorry for them.

In short...

Refusal is, indeed, a power above all others.

They want me to discover or accomplish some specific goal, one at a time; very similar to some users here, really, who only pop in to reassure and drop hints, and never register. With Knight it was the inner certainty that forum experiences mapped to the real, with Bag Lady awareness that the world is richer and more purposeful than it seems to be in normal awareness (I was going through a substantial Buddhist phase at about that time, you can probably trace it by my posts), and with Anna, full knowledge that there is something out there watching not my every move, but enough to be meaningful, and they will appear when the play calls them forth. Bit with the xolo remains quite clear.

I had reason to believe also that I was being "watched" so I put on the best damn show I could muster. Until I got tired of it.

chuckle
