According to NOAA, the north magnetic pole will cross over the top of the planet this year.

You do know that it means the north pole and the north pole will be in the same place right?

To flip the north magnetic pole has to move to the South Geographic pole, and it couldn't be further away.

The ice caps follow the magnetic poles. We aren't losing the ice caps, they are moving. This is also causing the physical axis of the Earth to shift. Slowly for now but it will get much faster. Earth's reset button.

The Earth's magnetic field is a shield for the planet from cosmic radiation. When our shield moves, the stronger and weaker points of that shield move over to different parts of the planet. That is climate change. Areas that received more shielding will receive less and areas that had less shielding will get more. It's not just a compass problem. It is changing the entire dynamic of the planet. Climate change will continue to get far far worse because of it.

The link says it is due to a change in water mass and location mostly a water loss in Asia at latitude 45°.

The changing ice caps are the main culprit. The amount of water they hold is staggering. The flood of Noah/Gilgamesh was caused when the ice over where I'm standing now melted 11,500 years ago. There was 2 miles of ice over Quebec. That's a lot of water.

It already started.

A pole shift takes centuries. From my understanding the eddy currents at the liquid/solid core interface have to change and that takes a while and doesn't happen overnight.

We will all be dead by the time the poles flip.

Well...

The article says it is water loss and mentions the India region.

Antarctica is gaining 82 Gigatons and Greenland is unchanged for the last two years. So lets look elsewhere.

Yeah the Antarctic peninsula is losing ice shelves. But it only has 1% of the Antarctic ice mass, and Archimedes principle makes ice shelves irrelevant, so we could care less what happens there.
