Article is untrue. We are headed into a solar minimum not maximum as the story states.

they cannot be predicted this far out.

Could be.

But who knows when.

A solar blast can take place any time after a solar minimum.

Probably a chain of events after a long period without events.

I don’t understand why Luke is defending this article so much. The sun has no spots right now, and will continue to have less frequent sunspots until we hit the solar minimum in a couple of years. There have been zero major solar events in March. As a matter of fact, if you look at spaceweather the sun has been spotless with no flares or cmes all month. So, the only thing that could cause a “major storm” would be a significant coronal hole, which won’t be likely considering the upcoming coronal hole is nothing out of the ordinary. This article is the definition of fake news. I know Luke will ask for proof.

EQUINOX CRACKS FORMING IN EARTH'S MAGNETIC FIELD: The vernal equinox is less than 10 days away. That means one thing: Cracks are opening in Earth's magnetic field. The seasonal phenomenon is known as the "Russell-McPherron effect," named after the researchers who first explained it more than 40 years ago. These "equinox cracks" are causing geomagnetic activity and bright auroras around the Arctic Circle even without strong solar activity. Visit today's edition of Spaceweather.com for the full story.

Remember,SpaceWeather.com is on Facebook!

The update on CHLs own link....

Quote:A previous version of this story indicated that the upcoming solar event is a large magnetic storm, when in fact, it is a G1, the smallest classification for a geomagnetic storm and thus unlikely to interfere with any electrical equipment here. We also erroneously reported that the sun is entering an increased period of solar activity. We apologize for the errors, and we'll be more careful going forward. Our thanks to those who offered corrections.

So if I leave a sausage outside on my window ledge over night....Will it be cooked in the morning?

Never believe anything until it has been fully denied.

The Sun doesn't need to be in maximum, nor does a sunspot need to be present for earth to encounter problems. Filaments occur during all phases of a solar cycle. Filaments which are large amounts of charged plasma suspended above the stellar surface often collapse. When a filament collapse occures, a HYDRA FLARE can be produced. Solar wind streams from coronal holes also pose problems, especially since 2013, the reason for this remains unknown. Since 2013 our planet has been affected by solar activity, that did not represent a threat in the past. The the fact that our weakening magnetosphere, is possibly the reason for smaller solar events, having a larger impact on earth, and all technology.

For the deniers of solar minimum dangers. Look up the Carrington Event of 1859, take note. THAT WAS DURING A SOLAR MINIMUM, when the electromagnetic field was approximately 15% stronger than now.

Now if the shills what to continue arguing, I will present the not so hard to find evidence to my not so extraordinary claims.

Or you lying suck cocker could simply stfu. Because you defend a broken stance, to which will do nothing for you.

That goes double for OWHN!
