The higher self is actually in love with the ego. When that love is reciprocated, the ego is no longer something that needs to be shunned as it becomes an humble servant to the higher self instead of being the controlling abusive ruling tyrant. There is no longer fear of death, abandonment or rejection, and envy, arrogance, hatred and greed no longer hold sway in decision making process.

Sounds about right. Ego is like a puppy that you need to train. Neglect it and let it to it's own devices and it might assume it is meant to be in charge.

Which is why the ego is the source of all evil. The more the ego is fed, the more it wants.

Neglecting the ego is to not feed it. That is what we all should do. Live in your heart and you wont feed the ego.

Exactly! Well said.

You shouldn't focus on ego death, that's ego.

Born again, the narrow gate, a new being, perfect love.

You think your head's achin', I'm not finished yet
I won't be mistaken, how soon you forget
Take back what you said and I'll spare you pain
Then you can spare me all your f*ckin' lies

RE: Ego death?
There are many misunderstandings on the spiritual path because of how physical terminology functions.

In physical reality, there are many dependencies for everything to function correctly. Everything is inter-related. Not only that but a physical object can be destroyed (transformed) and therefore you then have the concept of the lack of that object as the things that depended upon it no longer have it as part of their chain of events.

In spiritual terms, nothing can be destroyed, only changed to a different form. Chains of events are also not as rigid in the mind landscape as they are in the physical one.

The EGO is defined by most minds as the sense of self. This sense of self can be extremely uncultivated and this gives rise to egoism and incorrect actions.

From a higher point of view, the ego is never destroyed in the spiritualizing process of following a meditative or spiritual path. What happens along the way is that the ego is transformed to be able to direct the conscious attention (focus) of your being to more and more higher concept and ideas.

As soon as the ego is beginning to be transformed there is fear because the concepts with which you surrounded your ego trigger death-warnings: fear of loss of power, fear of loss of posessions and - the greatest fear of all - the fear of death itself.

As mentioned, the ego is not obliterated, but the concepts that create the thought pathways of your physical mind are indeed being destroyed (transformed). This can lead to a lot of confusion because the mind enjoys the comfort of knowing everything that is going on.

When this transforming process begins, the remaining thoughts - that some of the un-initiated new-agers speak about as the "ego" - try to grasp and hold everything that was once you (the thoughts you were triggering to think you were yourself). Because of this - the lack of the mask of who you believe you are - the un-initiated can indeed suffer a great deal and thoughts of suicide can appear.

However, if the spiritual path is followed correctly then there are no dangers of the loss of what we perceive as sanity or any thoughts of desiring for death.

The path is more or less this:
-follow a meditative practice
-step by step (don't force the changes when you are unprepared)
-knowing in parts what is going on, using the intuition a lot more when knowing fails you
-allowing the changing process to take place
-dis-identifying with your physical thoughts and identifying with your higher self "thoughts" a lot more
-finding peace in thoughts of compassion and love and loving also the fearful and rejected aspects of your mind
-becoming open to all impressions and putting aside strong or prejudiced judgements
-becoming the eye of the storm and allowing all thoughts, fears, ideas concepts to coagulate around you as possessions rather than your sense of identity
-spiritualizing your thoughts (as above so below, as below so above)
-letting go of all fears and anxieties as triggers for your discomfort and instead transforming these fears into knowledge (all obstacles are koans)
-letting go of the desire to get anywhere at a certain time (you are where you need to be when you act from the heart)

I would question the validity of any method that claims to perform something that cannot be done (destroying the ego). Always follow your intuition and choose the path that is most in-line with your Higher Self.

Good luck!

I found a sort of "mental technology" that allows my ego to be destroyed.

I am wondering if I should use it. And if ego death can lead to suicide.

I ask because I don't want to die but am afraid that my higher self will lead me to suicide.

Just watch the movie FAMILY MAN with Nicolaus Cage, he supernaturally is given an alternative life to change his ego and his pride. Observe his tantrum when he breaks down and wants his former life back and wants to buy an expensive suit

This movie is similiar to what happens to the alchemist when he embarks on the Great Work
