My heart is broken over this. I was hoping to see the gymnastics girls in their tight suits with their butts sticking out

Damn you coronavirus!

I suggest to the Olympic Committee a 'Pandemic Panda' themed mascot for the games. Also a new sport - running a fever.

chuckle throwing caution to the wind and throwing people under the bus might also be new olympic sports.

just to repeat myself, I'm really hoping, that, if this corona virus shutdown
only lasts 2-3 months, we still might get to see the tokyo olympics in 2020

Yeah, I’m sure one of these things with 3 hour opening ceremonies and 2 hour closing ceremonies and millions of square feet of athletic facilities can be put together within a few weeks.

Sucks, but it's clearly for the best.

My best guess is it's not so much that anyone thinks we'll actually still be all shut in like this come mid-summer (or whenever the olympics were scheduled...).

Rather, I think it has more to do with how right now a lot of athletes have had to postpone Olympic trials. I know that Olympic trials were still going on. Obviously at the moment at least we can't have wrestlers sweating on each other and/or gymnasts coughing on the balance beam, etc...

I wonder how a lot of these elite athletes are even keeping up their training...? I'm sure they're managing, but elite world class athletes usually have a team of people around them, managing their health and whatnot. It's a lot of work.

It's a shame. But they'll still get their shot. It's not like civilization is going to evaporate. They just gotta wait a bit.

Stay safe, playaaaaaaas.

Gotta keep hope alive, man.

No shame in that. We'll see this through.

Just don't get sneezed on.
