Morocco Gives Green Light For Its Hospitals to Use Antimalarial Drugs to Fight Covid-19

https://www.albawaba.com/news/morocco-gi...19-1346760

Morocco has authorised hospital to use antimalarial drugs endorsed by US President Donald Trump in the fight against the new coronavirus, according to a document seen by AFP.

Scientists have urged caution over use of the drug to treat the COVID-19 disease caused by the novel coronavirus.

Trump has championed the use of antimalarial drugs chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine to treat the highly contagious and deadly repiratory disease but experts say optimism around the drugs' potential is based on results from small-scale trials.

The Moroccan health ministry on Monday gave hospitals and regional health directors the green light to start using hydroxychloroquine and related compound chloroquine "in the care of confirmed COVID-19 cases", according to a message seen by AFP.

Algeria using Chloroquine for Coronavirus

https://www.businessghana.com/site/news/...tain-cases

Medics in Algeria are currently dealing with 230 cases of coronavirus.

Algeria’s health ministry has said hospitals in the North African nation can use chloroquine to treat patients infected with coronavirus.

However, the statement specifies that the drug should be used to treat “certain cases” of Covid-19, the respiratory illness caused by the virus, in accordance with “specific medical protocol”.

Chloroquine is one of the oldest and best-known anti-malarial drugs – though it is no longer recommended in much of Africa because of the resistance built up to it by the malaria parasites.

In treating malaria patients, the drug has been used to reduce fever and inflammation.

The entire world uses Chloroquine now, it is the only thing that is saving lives in the coronavirus outbreak, EXCEPT Democrat Nevada. The governor can't stand the fact that Trump discovered it first.

TRANSLATION:
The President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo Félix Tshisekedi said on Tuesday that it was "urgent" to produce chloroquine "in industrial quantities" against the coronavirus, referring to the recent press release from a pharmaceutical company based in the DRC. "It is indeed urgent that an industrial quantity of chloroquine be produced, which seems to have shown its effectiveness to date in certain countries," said the Congolese president in a television address detailing new measures to face the pandemic, including "state of emergency" and the isolation of Kinshasa from the rest of the country.

Coronavirus : Togo will also try chloroquine

SOURCE (in French) : https://www.togofirst.com/fr/sante/2503-...hloroquine

TRANSLATION: (Togo First) - Chloroquine, an old molecule out of the closet, is raising as much hope as controversy in the fight against Covid19. And it does not leave Togo indifferent.

Indeed, the country plans to integrate chloroquine into its therapeutic protocol, faced with the new coronavirus disease (SARS-Cov-2).

However, specify the health authorities, individuals should in no case take it outside of a detailed medical prescription. The treatment will thus be implemented in a protocol drawn up by the doctors, and will be essentially on prescription and in the hospital.

Here is his table. All those countries with substantial numbers of Coronavirus victims is here. ALL are using Chloroquine. Maybe it's a good thing Democrats don't want it. Too bad for them.

Novartis to donate malaria drug in fight against coronavirus

Novartis will donate enough doses of malaria drug hydroxychloroquine to treat several million patients in the fight against the coronavirus, if it wins approval, the Swiss company said on Friday.
There are no vaccines or treatments approved for the disease, but there is currently a 1,500-person trial, led by the University of Minnesota, to see whether hydroxychloroquine can prevent or reduce the severity of COVID-19.
Novartis makes the malaria drug, which is also used to treat lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, at its Sandoz unit in the United States.

Dr. Anthony Fauci: ‘Of Course’ I Would Prescribe Chloroquine to Coronavirus Patients

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2020/...-patients/

CHRIS STIGALL:If you’re a doctor listening to me right now and a patient with coronavirus feels like they want to try [Chloroquine] and you’re their doctor, you’re not Anthony Fauci the guy running the coronavirus task force, would you say ‘alright, we’ll give it a whirl’?

DR. ANTHONY FAUCI: Yeah, of course, particularly if people have no other option. You want to give them hope. In fact, for physicians in this country, these drugs are approved drugs for other reasons. They’re anti-malaria drugs and they’re drugs against certain autoimmune diseases, like lupus. Physicians throughout the country can prescribe that in an off-label way. Which means they can write it for something it was not originally approved for. People do that all the time, and it really is an individual choice between the physician and his or her patient as to whether or not they want to do that.

Coronavirus: Five Tons of Chloroquine Sent to Greece from India

https://greece.greekreporter.com/2020/03...rom-india/

Five tons of the malaria-fighting medication called chloroquine was sent recently from India to Greece, after the Greek government managed to secure this enormous quantity of the drug to equip its National Health Service.

The use of chloroquine has been described by the World Health Organization as ”promising” in combatting the COVID-19 coronavirus.

”Chloroquine is a drug that has been tested and its early results suggest that it may have a positive effect on the treatment of patients with coronavirus infection,” said Dimitris Philippou, president of the Greek National Medicines Agency, or EOF.

Senegal has decided to test chloroquine on patients :

http://www.rfi.fr/fr/afrique/20200326-le...oronavirus

TRANSLATION:

Moussa Seydi, a figure in the fight against the coronavirus in the country, a great specialist in infectious diseases, took careful note of the tests carried out by the infectiologist Didier Raoult in France, in Marseille. Concretely Moussa Seydi, in a video, announces that he decided in Dakar to use hydroxychloroquine, a molecule almost identical to chloroquine.

So far, the test has been done on patients at Fann’s Hospital, the very first care center. And the substance would, according to the professor, facilitate the healing of the coronavirus. The tests will continue. Moussa Seydi announces that if 100 patients tested do not have too serious side effects, he will follow the recommendations of Professor Raoult, who had suggested adding an antibiotic, azithromycin. If all the tests are successful, this draft treatment will be generalized to all patients in Senegal.
