When I was like 20, a friend talked me into joining him on a month long fruit juice fast. He convinced me that it would clean out my system, and get all the impurities out of my body. After a week, I decided I didn't mind all the impurities in my system

But he made it, one month

LOL

Yeah I may be a one week wonder too. But we'll see.

I think you are determined enough to make it all the way
Good Luck!

According to Edgar Cayce, the sleeping prophet, apples for three days will cleanse any body.

I can handle that during Honeycrisp Apple Season no problem, so yummy

I wonder why apples?

Just what he likes of several options?

There's the old saying an apple a day keeps the doctor away.

RE: Fasters! Hey do any of you guys fast, or did so in the past?
I believe a few weeks of prep before can be helpful. I was taught by a native friend to do a larger ritual for isolating yourself in the woods. However this ritual isnt for everyone. It required weeks of prep using what would be referred to as prayer ties, small pieces of colored cloth folded filled with tobacco and tied onto a long string. Each pouch a prayer, the cloth had different colors for different directions and there were 144 of them in all. This would be brought with you inot the wilderness, it would circle your prayer area where you would stay until retrieved. Before being put out you went through other ceremonies such as sweat lodges and blessing rituals.

THe point here is one should start cleansing the mind and body before the fast. Get off alchol, cafine, lighten your diet so you dont have to much meat in the intestine etc,

Here’s one option.

https://www.zevia.com/

Stevia (plant-based sweetener)

I'm not familiar with that. Can it get close to a sort of cola feel? It doesn't have to be identical. But close.

I remember they had a cola version of it yes;

I’ll be honest with you though the stevia although passable in no way duplicates the taste of the sugary stuff; (RC cola used to be my fav) but wait we are talking here aspartame vs stevia; in that regard they’re kinda similar tasting.

I was hoping someone who does this for faith based reasons would chime in. Part of the reason for me pondering this is definitely psychological.

How was the mind during this?

Did you notice any changes in functioning?

It's very good for the body to fast once a week...not eating for a full 24 hours. Eating during the day and then not after 6:00 pm is not fasting.

When I fast, I try to think about God more and meditate. Fasting helps with meditation because the body isn't using up a lot of energy with digestion.

Supposedly, you live longer if you fast. Drink only water or water with fresh lemon juice.

It has been my expireince the method your working with here can be helpful, but most often is used for and evening ritual and does not mimic the mind set created by a longer fast

RE: Fasters! Hey do any of you guys fast, or did so in the past?
you are likely to have a headache for the first few days as your body adjusts
try to rest if you can the first three days , when you break fast go slowly small amounts over several hours not one big meal , personally i found i can't tolerate protein when i am fasting , fresh salads, fruit, water ..30 days fasting breaking fast after sundown able to eat until just before sunrise , also optional fasting thursdays
as you reach about 15 days you become more aware , start noticing things you may not have done before smells seem more acute and you may notice nature more certainly tolerence of noice goes down need peace and calm at that time , guess everyone is different , just go slow

Diet soda?

Not good cause of the aspertame, there are other diet sodas that are made with stevia, go with those.

It's all bad for you. The flavor sweet triggers insulin release, and if there's no sugar to process, why would you want an insulin spike?

I recommend just flavoring water with real juice, preferably tart cherry or cranberry.

RW Knudsen brand, costs about $6 a bottle, and both flavors are very tart, and I dilute them 1:10 with water, so that makes it 60cents a bottle.

And the vitamins and pigments are good for you.

Regarding fasting, I've done it several times to lose weight by combining it with exercise.

Two to three days at a time.

But for general health, intermittent fasting is better for you once your weight is where you need it to be.

You can lose muscle mass if you overdo it with fasting for days at a time, and that's undesirable because you need the muscles to burn carbs and fats, so it can boomerang on you if you go too far.

But the health benefits of losing weight are worth doing it carefully.

If you start to feel weak or wobbly it's past time to eat something.

With the intermittent fasting it basically just means maintaining a schedule where your meals are all in an eight hour period and you don't eat for 16.

Which instead of fasting they should just call normal eating.

Pre TV meal plan.

Intermittent fasting:
9 hours of eating and 15 hours of only water, daily.
Typically eating from 9 a.m. to 6p.m. then fast until the next day.

This is the same method Joe Rogan has been doing for a long time.

Oh I'm definitely going to have my coffee. The thing about the hourly fasting I think would be hard is still eating a lot of food.

I'm not sure that format would work for me.

Joe Rogan also has an exception for coffee during the fasting period. Just water and coffee.

RE: Fasters! Hey do any of you guys fast, or did so in the past?
I fast more days than I eat, which is understandable since I don't eat until my set maintenance morning weigh in weight falls under my set weight, in which case I fast one more day. I also get sick the day after I eat due to a somewhat damaged vagus nerve which means that food takes way too long to pass through my digestive tract than it ever should, so about half a day later I'm hit hard with acid reflux and a torso that feels like its full of gas pressure resulting in the need to burp to release it (most likely a result of having my stomach pumped daily for around a week or so when I was hospitalized with pneumonia in both lungs as a young child and it was unknown if I would make it or not). Fasting after taking a food day is easy, well for me it is cause the last thing I want to do after 12 hours of last eating is eat again.

What you need to keep in mind is that if you have problems during the first three days of fasting, those problems are likely from food chemical withdrawal which tends to dehydrate you even when you are drinking ample amounts of water. Electrolytes help against that, which are basically salts. Beyond three days, new problems affecting you are prone to be more from a lack of nutrition and food, which primarily are being asked for by torn down and otherwise used muscles. The latter becomes apparent if you exercise all the time, of which I put in two and a half hours of exercise every night. There comes a point during fasting while exercising where the muscles just don't fully recover from day to day, and its all downhill from there. The next time you eat the muscles go back to feeling good again, and you shouldn't be dropping muscle during the first day in which they felt they haven't recovered, but I wouldn't recommend going beyond that point unless dropping muscle is your goal. Even then its harder to fast as long during the next fasting session with only one food day between fasting sessions relative to if you didn't starve your muscles so.

So, what do I recommend. Lemon/lime water is good, as lemons purify and assist with weight loss and replenishes electrolytes well. Creatine powder is good if you want your muscles not to deteriorate any and you either exercise every day or plan on going on longer fasts and want to ensure your muscle health is taken care of as long as possible (creatine enables muscles to break down at a slower rate given the same amount of strain relative to not taking it, and its natural as creatine is naturally found in about every cell of the body). You want to avoid sugar when fasting, as many say it kicks you out of ketosis which is pretty much the production of ketones that is achievable while fasting.

Other than that, zipfizz (20 calories per tube, which is acceptable given that daily vitamin tablets tend to have that in them, and are typically allowed by those who fast) is a nice tasting powder you can pour into a bottle of water and restore vitamin and electrolyte levels and can be mixed with a squeeze of lemon juice and a teaspoon of creatine powder, while getting you out of dehydration type sickness effects. Fruit punch being the best flavor. A box of zip fizz contains 20 flasks, and costs around $18 at Sam's Club.

If you want a bulletin board website to fast with others with, join silly weight loss competitions, or anything of the like, then I recommend myproana.com which can also be assessed as mpa.com. Its a huge community with a large adult membership population with about one male per two or three females, which means its unjustifiable to feel out of place due to ones age or gender, or if one has or doesn't have an eating disorder as everyone is allowed.

Fasting helps a lot in helping you to both feel and look good, but its not going to fix health problems that can't really be fixed.

The mind tends to be happy about fasting if it doesn't have to give up flavor, and if it knows that when you get to eat again you can have whatever you want (something you typically don't allow if you are always restricting).

Though it contains both sugar and calories, local honey is rather good if you suffer from allergies or are afraid of any disease that my go around. Honey is nature's naturally produced vaccines. Honey is also known for its weight loss benefits.
