Ahmaud Arbery: Attorney for man who recorded video of fatal shooting releases statement
In the statement, attorney Kevin Gough said William “Roddie” Bryant wants the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to ‘clear his good name.’
https://www.actionnewsjax.com/news/local...g-tv-10050

"My name is Kevin Gough. I represent Roddie Bryan, a witness to the tragic shooting and death of Ahmaud Arbery. No parent should have to bury their own child, especially one so young. As a father himself, Roddie’s heart goes out to Ahmaud’s family. Thanks to the public outcry over Mr. Arbery’s death, and the manner in which (prosecutors) handled it, the family will have their day in court. It will be for a judge and jury to determine the fate of those responsible for his death.

"From day one, Mr. Bryan has fully cooperated with law enforcement officers investigating this matter. It was Mr. Bryan who videotaped the incident in question, disclosed the existence of the videotape, and invited a responding Glynn County Police Officer to sit with him in his truck where they watched the video together. Mr. Bryan went home, came back out to the crime scene shortly thereafter at the request of law enforcement to further assist them, and then later voluntarily went to the Glynn County Police Department where he answered all the questions they had for him, without a lawyer, during a lengthy interview. Roddie even gave the police consent to search his cell phone. The police took possession of the phone for well over an hour and led Mr. Bryan to believe they had made a copy of everything that they needed before returning it to him.

"Despite his cooperation, and for reasons that he does not understand, Mr. Bryan has learned that the family and apparently their lawyers are demanding that he be arrested. Local media have apparently reported that an arrest is imminent. Roddie and his family are now receiving threats. Roddie has lost his job, and is now unemployed. Mr. Bryan, his fiancee, his children, his siblings and other family members, friends and neighbors now live in fear despite the fact that Mr. Bryan has committed no crime and fully cooperated with the investigation into the shooting.

"Contrary to irresponsible media reports, Mr. Bryan was unarmed at the time of the shooting. Roddie is a family man, NASCAR fan, and enjoys rock and roll. He is not now, and never has been, a ‘vigilante.’

“Until this morning, when the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) announced it at a press conference, Mr. Bryan had never been advised by any prosecutor or law enforcement officer that he was a target of the investigation into Mr. Arbery’s death. Such comments, which are unsupported by the evidence already in the possession of the GBI, have needlessly placed the lives of Mr. Bryan, his family, friends and neighbors in jeopardy, and in a matter of moments effectively destroyed his life. Mr. Bryan respectfully asks that the GBI promptly review the file again and clear his good name.”

This is SO getting out of hand. This man should NOT BE CHARGED WITH ANYTHING!

Murder.. is the intentional taking of a persons life...

As in you expected, tried to, ensured a person would die.... usually there is planning involved. That is murder...

Normally to commit a crime, there has to be 3 factors, care, consent and control... None of these factors are present in this case. He was simply filming either at the request of someone or looking to post something on your tube.

This is completely a circus trial... (insert clown music here)

They arrested the guy that filmed it for Murder

I remember something like this before. If you are with people that commit a murder, you too can be held responsible. In this case, I think he should not have been arrested for Murder

The filming of it sort of seems planned. The guy filming didn't seem this was an unexpected event. So if it was planned, yeah, he's as guilty as the guys who did it.

It did "rather seem" planned, but likely not for the reasons most would guess, and in court a conspiracy to commit murder has to be proven with evidence beyond a reasonable doubt. Court cases are by nature struggles for survival (often predatory too), and it makes sense to ensure that these court-struggles affirm our rights as much as humanly possible.

My memory is coming back to me...it goes like this

In the course of a felony, if someone is killed, all participating in the felony are guilty of murder. So they found something on the phone linking him to the other two

How are they going to prove the video maker had felonious intent? What was the felony in a Citizens Arrest?

Anything short of a text showing he wanted harm to come to the kid, doesn't work

This has the ring of he Zimmerman trial. Obviously this isn't the same, but we are seeing the public "demand" a trial where the people involved really shouldn't be tried.

Now "shouldn't" and will be are two very different things. In Canada, everyone gets arrested, then the courts figure it out. By the courts I mean the prosecutor tries to figure out if he has a hope in hell of a real conviction. The trial process can last years, so by the time it actually goes to trail the public has mostly calmed down.

I think people should take a long hard look at crime. decide what they are willing to put up with, and stop it there. It doesn't matter what color the person is, it matters if they are a career criminal. This guy... career criminal and the family getting their 15 minutes of fame.

All a citizens arrest means is you advise police of situation, you are authorized or deputized as an individual citizen to make arrests despite what popular culture says, that is considered unlawful confinement.

RE: 3rd Man arrested for Murder in Aberys Death
He was also charged with "criminal attempt to commit false imprisonment." which resulted in the death of Arbery with lead to the murder charge.

Murder & Manslaughter Laws in Georgia

Unlike many states, Georgia doesn’t divide murder into “first degree” or “second degree.” A murder occurs when one person kills another person with the conscious intent to take their life. An example of murder is when someone deliberately drives through a crowded crosswalk. Murder also applies when a person is killed during the commission of an inherently dangerous felony, even if the killing was accidental. The minimum sentence for murder in Georgia is life in prison, and the death penalty is possible if circumstances are severe enough.

"Earlier this week, civil rights attorney Ben Crump called on law enforcement to arrest Bryan after he said a media reenactment done by the New York Times proved William Roddy Bryan hunted Ahmaud Arbery down for four minutes before the deadly shooting. The media reenactment was based on 911 calls, all videos that have been released, and statements made by those involved and on the scene February 23.

William ‘Roddy’ Bryan claimed that he was not involved in the murder of Ahmaud Arbery, but this new video clearly shows that he hunted Ahmaud for more than four minutes prior to his death.

While he may not have pulled the trigger, he was clearly complicit, using his vehicle to stalk, threaten and trap Ahmaud for execution,” attorney Crump concluded."

He did not Call the Police and hand over the video immediately.
That makes him an Accomplice/Accessory before and after the fact.

not a good Samaritan or simply a witness as Bryan has claimed, but a significant player in the February killing of the unarmed black man.

"If we believed he was a witness, we wouldn't have arrested him," GBI Director Vic Reynolds said Friday.

Wow you are reaching for sh*t... "Attempt to commit false imprisonment?" They forced the "jogger" into the truck?... no... they forced the jogger to attack the guy holding the shotgun?... no...

The felony, according to Georgia law, was the criminal trespass with intent to steal.... that was the "jogger".... the actual criminal in this case.
