This is an interest article from somebody that infiltrated these groups. Scream1

Lessons from embedding with the Michigan militia – 5 questions answered about the group allegedly plotting to kidnap a governor

"Details are still emerging about the men arrested on federal and state charges related to an alleged plot to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. Federal prosecutions can take months and even years, so it will be quite some time before a full analysis of this situation becomes possible.

But as a scholar who has spent the last 12 years studying the U.S. domestic militia movement, including three years of fieldwork embedded with militias in Michigan, I believe several themes will remain important, wherever the details lead.

1. What is this group, and where did it come from?
Reports I’m hearing indicate that the group the arrested men were part of, called the Wolverine Watchmen, likely started early this year as an offshoot of the Michigan Liberty Militia. That group has received wide publicity for its involvement in lockdown protests at the state Capitol in Lansing.

It’s not clear why the split may have happened, but it is very common for internal splits to occur in militia groups. I’ve observed that directly in my fieldwork, and have heard the same from long-term militia members who say it dates back to the beginnings of the movement in the early 1990s.

Sometimes these splits are for practical reasons, like groups that grow too large dividing into smaller groups to allow for more frequent meetings and closer connections. Or people tire of traveling long distances to be part of a large group, and instead start their own unit closer to home.

Other times, splits happen because of personality conflicts or disagreements over the direction of the group. Some members of Michigan’s Hutaree militia, for instance, started as members of a different group, but were pushed out.

The reasons I heard from militia members on both sides of that split were that those who became the Hutaree hinted at having more extreme views than the rest of the group. Leaders of the original group had also expressed concerns about unsafe firearms handling practices among those future Hutaree members, an offense that, if persistent, is grounds for membership revocation in many militias.

The reasons the Wolverines split are not yet clear – but it is possible that they had ideological disagreements.

2. What are their aims or goals?
Traditionally, researchers have categorized militias as one of two general types: “constitutionalists,” who are largely law-abiding and make up the majority of the movement, and “millenarians,” who are more prone to conspiracy theories and violent action.

More recently, internal divisions have occurred in both these groups around whether they support police, or whether they call for a widespread uprising against government tyranny.

From the evidence available so far, it strikes me that the arrested men are probably more millenarian in outlook. In general, millenarian groups are more likely than their constitutionalist comrades to be invested in conspiracy theories, to be motivated by religious and racist views and to have members who are closely related to each other.

These characteristics fit with what is known so far about the men arrested in Michigan, which include two people who share a residence and two others who share a last name. For instance, at least one of them appears to have followed and promoted QAnon, a movement that has been called a “collective delusion” rather than a conspiracy theory. That belief system includes claims that “vaccinations with tracking chips will later be activated by 5G cellular networks,” “the coronavirus is a hoax,” “celebrities harvest [a chemical] from children’s bodies” and that a “global network tortures and sexually abuses children in Satanic rituals,” among other ideas.

A different member of the alleged conspiracy has shared online images of Norse symbols and a religion worshiping the Norse god Odin. These are not inherently racist, but many racists and white supremacists identify with and promote the myths and iconographies of that religion, often called “Odinism.”

Some might suspect that the men were motivated by a desire to overthrow the government – since they allegedly sought to kidnap a governor. But based on the information available so far, including the federal charges against them, I think it is more likely that these men saw themselves as resisting government overreach and infringement on individual liberties, seeking to restore what they understood to be a constitutional leadership structure.

For instance, the federal charging document quotes one of the men as saying “I can see several states taking their … tyrants. Everybody takes their tyrants.”

3. How much of their belief is about gender?
Overt sexism is not usually part of militia groups’ principles, but militias are dominated by men, with most groups having no more than 10% women among their membership. Many of those men believe in largely traditional roles, where men are the protectors and breadwinners of the family, and women take more supporting and child-rearing roles.

Those beliefs can be amplified among people who follow certain versions of Odinism that are connected to white supremacy. From their perspective, It’s a way to increase the numbers of strong white families and white babies.

The document detailing the federal charges says the men used sexist language when discussing the governor, including the word “bit*h.” That seems to confirm that their anger may have been sparked not just by Whitmer’s lockdown orders, but also the fact that she’s a woman."

Trump is so disgustingly abusive of the role of the DOJ. Scream1

Trump’s demand for DOJ to prosecute his political enemies is ‘a jarring moment without precedent’: Washington Post

"President Donald Trump’s push to have AG Bill Barr prosecute his political opponents is “a jarring moment without precedent in modern American history,” according to a new Washington Post report.

“President Trump publicly pressured the Justice Department on Friday to move against his political adversaries and complained that Attorney General William P. Barr is not doing enough to deliver results of a probe into how the Obama administration investigated possible collusion between Russia and the 2016 Trump campaign,” correspondents Anne Gearan, Matt Zapotosky, Karoun Demirjian and Josh Dawsey reported Friday evening.

“Three weeks before the election and trailing Biden in polls nationally as well as in key states, Trump is issuing a new torrent of threats and demands for federal action against Democrats, including former president Barack Obama, that go beyond his familiar and often erroneous claims of wrongdoing by his perceived political enemies,” the newspaper explained. “The president’s calls for the Justice Department to target his political opposition in the heat of a presidential campaign is a jarring moment without precedent in modern American history. But it is in keeping with Trump’s actions when he has faced adversity, which now includes testing positive for the coronavirus last week after for months minimizing the threat posed by a deadly virus that has killed more than 213,000 Americans.”

The newspaper interviewed Harvard Law School professor Jack Goldsmith, who worked at the DOJ during the George W. Bush administration.

“The behavior would be shocking in a normal presidency, but Trump has literally been doing this for years,” Goldsmith noted. “So it is reprehensible, but not shocking.”

All The President’s Men
Looking back at four years of MAGA terror.

"This past week, 13 men belonging to paramilitary groups were arrested in a horrifying plot to kidnap Michigan’s Democratic governor, Gretchen Whitmer. Based on what can be gleaned from the men’s social media pages, they fit a familiar profile of far-right vigilantism in America.

They are white men. Most appear to be supporters of President Donald Trump. They consume disinformation and conspiracy theories online with abandon. They see a new American civil war on the horizon, and they’re more than eager to fire some of the first shots.

I’ve met these types of men before, all across the country, over the last four years while covering the American far right as a reporter. I’ve also seen the damage they’ve caused, and spoken to the people whose lives they’ve upended.

These men are part of an insurgent Make America Great Again fascist movement here, the size and power of which keeps me up at night. Although it’s a movement with origins that long predate the president, it’s one that today generates much of its cruel energy and momentum from his words.

“LIBERATE MICHIGAN!” Trump tweeted in April in a show of support for the armed protesters gathering outside Michigan’s state Capitol to protest Whitmer’s COVID-19 lockdown measures.

In the weeks that followed, these supporters would march into the state Capitol carrying long guns. They stood along a balcony and looked down menacingly at legislators. Among them were some of the 13 militia group members arrested this week.

Whitmer blamed Trump for the plot to kidnap her, telling reporters Thursday that the president’s rhetoric “incites more domestic terror.”

Scholars of fascism, who have long warned of this link between a leader’s rhetoric and the violence committed by his followers, agree. Jason Stanley, a professor of philosophy at Yale University and author of the book “How Fascism Works,” told me once that hateful speech from public leaders, left unchallenged, can become normalized.

“And then violence occurs like five to six years later,” Stanley said. “Look at Myanmar, look at Rwanda, look at Nazi Germany. You have some years between the onset of the hate speech and the normalization of violence and mass violence.”

In fascist movements, Stanley said, “there’s always a relationship between the rhetoric and the unofficial militia. That’s what we’re looking at right now.”

America’s unofficial militias, its white vigilantes, have been feeding off Trump’s hateful speech for years now. He launched his presidential campaign in 2015, after all, by calling Mexicans “rapists.” That same year he called for a “complete and total shutdown” of Muslims entering the U.S.

He won the 2016 election perhaps not despite those racist statements but because of them, and, in the four years since, headline after headline has described escalating acts of political violence committed by his supporters and by those who share his hateful worldview — headlines so frequent and relentless as to make them routine.

I wrote some of those headlines and it feels urgent now, in the final weeks leading up to this presidential election, to revisit those stories, and to recount the scale and intensity of MAGA hate and terror, lest it all becomes even more normalized.

The months after Trump’s inauguration were fraught with uncertainty and fear. Reports emerged of terrifying hate crimes, and in May 2017, I found myself in Portland, Oregon, talking to 22-year-old Ellie Lawrence, whose boyfriend had just been murdered."

RE: Far Right Militant attacks and actions documentation thread! UPDATES:
No leniency for Greek neo-Nazi leaders in sentencing

"A Greek court Monday rejected a request for leniency for the leader of notorious Greek neo-Nazi party Golden Dawn and his top aides, who were convicted last week at the end of a landmark five-year trial.

The court refused to consider mitigating factors when sentencing party founder and long-term leader Nikos Michaloliakos and six other former party lawmakers for crimes that include running a criminal organization.

However, the announcement of the sentencing that had been expected Tuesday will be delayed after one of the defendants — independent Eurodeputy Ioannis Lagos — asked for the panel of three judges to be replaced.

Dozens of Communist protesters gathered outside the court near central Athens on Monday, demanding harsh sentences for the “Nazi criminals”.

After over five years of hearings, the panel of three judges on Wednesday unanimously labelled the paramilitary party a criminal organization in the trial described as one of the most important in Greece’s political history.

More than 50 defendants were convicted of crimes ranging from running a criminal organization, murder and assault to illegal weapons possession.

As a result, Michaloliakos and six others including Lagos, deputy leader Christos Pappas and former party spokesman Ilias Kassidiaris will receive sentences of up to 15 years, a court source said.

Key crimes carried out by Golden Dawn are the 2013 murder of anti-fascist rapper Pavlos Fyssas and the beating of Egyptian fishermen in 2012 and communist trade unionists in 2013, the court established on Wednesday.

The announcement was greeted with elation by some 20,000 anti-fascist protesters gathered outside.

Some of them later briefly clashed with riot police.

Police over the weekend blocked plans by Lagos to hold a demonstration outside the tribunal on Monday.

– ‘Scared little people’ –

Lagos, a top Golden Dawn organizer who defected from the party last year after his election to the European parliament, last week said he was convicted by a “scared team of little people carrying out orders and trampling on every sense of law.”

Appearing in court on Monday, Lagos said the court was “biased” against him and said he would seek to have the panel of three judges replaced.

Lagos caused controversy in January by ripping up a printout of the Turkish flag in the European parliament, arguing that Turkey was to blame for illegal migration flows into Greece.

Michaloliakos has rejected his conviction as a political witchhunt.

“We were condemned over our ideas,” he tweeted last week. “When illegal immigrants are the majority in Greece, when (the government) hands over everything to Turkey, when millions of Greeks are unemployed on the street, they will remember Golden Dawn.”

Twitter later suspended his account.

During the investigation, prosecutors said Michaloliakos ran his party under a military-style hierarchy modeled on Hitler’s Nazi party, with himself as the undisputed leader for over three decades.

A search of party members’ homes in 2013 uncovered firearms and other weapons, as well as Nazi and fascist memorabilia.

Tapping into anti-austerity and anti-migrant anger during the decade-long Greek debt crisis, Golden Dawn for a time was the third most popular party in the country.

At the height of its power, the party topped 10 percent in surveys, and its popularity remained high even after the criminal investigation into Fyssas’ murder began in 2013.

Man attempted kidnapping because he thought Hispanic nanny shouldn’t be caring for a white child

"A California man has been arrested after he allegedly tried to kidnap a child from a Hispanic nanny because he felt she shouldn’t be caring for a white child, Fox5 reports.

The incident took place this Wednesday in a park in San Diego. Police say a man they described as a “transient” rode up on a bicycle and began harassing the nanny and grabbed her arm several times. When another woman at the park saw what was going on, she yelled at the man, causing him to run off. He later dove into a body of water trying to escape before he was arrested.

Michael Hudson, 51, was booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of felony kidnapping, misdemeanor battery, felony vandalism and a felony hate crime charge.

Disturbing footage of Whitmer kidnapping suspects’ training drills with assault rifles released by Feds

"Federal prosecutors released disturbing footage created by the suspects involved in the plot to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D).

On Friday, U.S. Attorney Andrew Birge publicly unveiled a trove of evidence, including text messages and recorded footage that was used presented in a hearing for the suspects identified as—Adam Fox, Barry Croft, Ty Garbin, Kaleb Franks, Daniel Harris, and Brandon Caserta—who now face charges for their involvement in the alarming plot.

The clip below captures several men participating in military-style drills while firing assault weapons. The video then shifts to Caserta who expressed disapproval of the U.S. government.

“If this s**t goes down… okay… if this whole thing starts to happen, I’m tellin’ you what dude, I’m takin’ out as many of those motherf**kers as I can. Every single one dude. Every single one. And if you guys are gonna give any of these motherf**kers a chance, any of these gang f**king criminal a** government thugs that rob people everyday, if you’re even gonna give them a second to try to speak or tell their story, don’t even f**k with me dude.

“I have zero patience for immoral coward criminals,” Caserta said, adding, “I’m sick of being robbed and enslaved by the state. Period… And these are the guys who are actually doing it.”

Warning violent content:

Videos show training for alleged governor kidnapping plotyoutu.be

Additional disturbing details about the plot were also shared via Twitter by Fox 17 reporter Doug Reardon of Detroit, Mich. The evidence also included text message conversations with one message, in particular, appearing to suggest that Whitmer be killed.

That message read, “Have one person go to her house. Knock on the door and when she answers it just cap her… ”"

The latest developments come as President Donald Trump continues to attack Whitmer. In fact, he even attempted to blame her for the plot orchestrated against her due to the strict coronavirus shutdown orders she enforced. The president took to Twitter on last Thursday to verbally attack Whitmer as he falsely claimed she called him a “White Supremacist,” according to CNN.

“Governor Whitmer of Michigan has done a terrible job. She locked down her state for everyone, except her husband’s boating activities,” he wrote, urging her in another tweet to “open up your state, open up your schools, and open up your churches!”"

Nope none of that ^ is true at all. It has been debunked many many times here at LOP.

George Soros is not a Nazi, explained
Donald Trump Jr. suggested George Soros is a Nazi. That’s ridiculous.

"The real history
Before George Soros became a globally recognized billionaire — and boogeyman of the far right — he was a Jewish child growing up in Nazi-affiliated, and ultimately Nazi-occupied, Hungary.

Hungary — then a monarchy under the reign of Regent Miklós Horthy (his full title was “His Serene Highness the Regent of the Kingdom of Hungary”) before he was deposed by Nazi Germany in 1944 — was highly anti-Semitic even before joining the Axis powers in the early days of WWII. Fascist political parties, most notably the Arrow Cross Party, modeled themselves on the Nazi Party, including a promise to find a “solution of the Jewish question.” The Hungarian state responded to the popularity of fascist anti-Semitism, passing racial laws similar to Nazi Germany’s Nuremberg Laws that forbade intermarriage between Jews and non-Jews and limited the jobs Hungarian Jews could legally hold.

By 1941, the year Soros celebrated his 11th birthday, Hungary had begun deporting Jews, 20,000 that summer alone, to the Nazi-controlled city of Kamenets-Podolsk in Ukraine, where they were murdered en masse by Nazi Einsatzgruppen — mobile killing units.

And while the deportations were stopped briefly when Horthy became convinced the Nazis would lose the war, a Nazi-staged coup gave power to the Arrow Cross and fueled the deportation and murder of thousands of Jews.

This was the world into which Soros was born. In fact, his name was originally George Schwartz — his parents changed their last name to Soros (which means “next in line” in Magyar, the native language of Hungary) in 1936 in an effort to appear less Jewish and more Hungarian in a country becoming increasingly anti-Semitic.

His father, Tivadar Soros, recognized the threat of Nazism early. In an interview with the New Yorker in 2001, George Soros said of Tivadar, “My father was ahead of the curve, because he recognized the moment the Germans came in that this was a different world and one had to act differently.” In another interview, Soros said that when the Nazis invaded Hungary in March 1944, his father brought the family together and said, “This is an emergency. If we remain law-abiding citizens and continue our current existence, we are going to perish.”

The source of the conspiracy theories
The Nazi conspiracy theories about Soros have two main allegations. The first claim is that Soros helped to send other Hungarian Jews to their deaths in concentration camps (as Glenn Beck put it in 2010: “Here’s a Jewish boy helping send the Jews to the death camps.”) And second, Soros stole from Jews who had already been deported or killed, taking their property and valuables.

Both of these allegations are untrue. But they serve as evidence of just how misunderstood the true horrors of the Holocaust can be — often deliberately."

Indiana police department fires officer after he was outed on ‘Iron March’ Neo-Nazi forum

"The Lafayette, Indiana police department announced Saturday that they fired a “recruit officer” after he participated in the Neo-Nazi web forum Iron March.

According to a release, officer Joseph Zacharek was outed on Twitter after he was discovered participating in the fascist forum. The police department did an investigation into the officer and discovered enough that prompted the department to fire him.

“The Lafayette Police Department conducts very thorough and complete background investigations on all potential employees, which includes a complete review of personal social media accounts,” the release said. “While this information may not have been accessible through our investigative processes, we are appreciative that it was brought to our attention. We take great pride in our investigations and are extremely disappointed that we were not able to uncover this information in that process. We endeavor to learn from this investigation to ensure it never happens again.”

The department also tried to reassure the community that the officer had nothing to do with the everyday policing of the department.

“Officer Zacharek was hired in June of 2020 and to this point has been working solely in a training environment and has no exposure to the public,” the release said. “As a result of this investigation Officer Zacharek’s employment with the Lafayette Police Department has been terminated.”"

21 white supremacist gang members busted in massive drug trafficking sting in Utah

"Federal authorities in Utah have charged 21 white supremacist gang members and associates with distributing drugs and firearms around the state, according to a series of indictments unsealed Friday.

The charges follow a 16-month investigation into three “home-grown” hate groups — Soldiers of Aryan Culture, Silent Aryan Warriors and Noble Elect Thugs — which officials described as increasingly organized criminal enterprises.

“Unfortunately, this is a Utah product,” U.S. Attorney John Huber said at a news conference. “There are many things to be proud of in Utah, from our snow, beautiful mountains, national parks. White supremacist gangs, it’s one of ours. We own it and we’re not proud of it.”

The suspects are accused of selling methamphetamine, heroin, painkillers, marijuana and other drugs in the Salt Lake City and Ogden areas.

The investigation, led by local and federal authorities, resulted in a slew of felony charges against the group, including distribution of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm by a felon. Nine of the suspects could face up to life in prison if convicted.

Investigators also recovered 15 firearms and 1.65 pounds of meth during the probe.

Officials said many of the defendants have been involved in criminal conduct in Utah communities for many years. One of the gangs, Soldiers of Aryan Culture, was born in a Utah state prison in the 1990s and has been expanding ever since, Huber told reporters.

The FBI recently warned lawmakers that white supremacist groups are among the top threats to U.S. national security.

“Within that racially-motivated violent extremism bucket, people ascribing to some kind of white supremacist-type ideology is certainly the biggest chunk of that,” FBI Director Christopher Wray told the House of Representatives during a hearing last month."

More and more covid-19 related potential terror attacks. Sad these people are so upset over a reasonable measure of pandemic response.

Man Arrested In Threat To Kidnap and Kill Wichita Mayor Over Mask Mandate

"A Wichita man has been arrested for an alleged threat to kidnap and kill Wichita Mayor Brandon Whipple (D) over frustration with the city’s mask mandate.

Per the Witchita Eagle, the suspect had expressed opposition to “masks and tyranny,” in a series of texts reviewed by the city’s mayor.

“He said he was going to kidnap me and slash my throat and he needed my address because I needed to see the hangman,” Whipple said.

“It sounded like the person was very upset about pretty much mask mandates and he said something about not being able to see his mother because of COVID restrictions on elderly homes,” he added.

The news comes months after Whipple in July pushed for a city ordinance requiring face coverings to be worn in most public spaces in an effort to curb the spread of coronavirus amid a wave of similar mandates in other cities and states nationwide.

According to the Eagle, the suspect, Meredith Dowty, 59, a retired Wichita city firefighter, was also a well-known local musician who plays guitar and harmonica and has performed in local bars and nightclubs under the name “Cathead.”

Years before his alleged threat to kidnap and kill the mayor over mask requirements, Dowty was honored for his service by the Wichita City Council in 2008 for helping to save the life of a Wichita police officer who was shot in the line of duty, the Eagle reported.

According to the Eagle, Dowty was also notably among the first rescuers on the scene at a 1998 explosion of the DeBruce Grain Elevator south of Wichita, helping to remove four seriously injured people from the damaged elevator which killed seven and injured 10 employees.

Dowty who was placed behind bars at Sedgwick County Jail on Friday evening could face a charge of criminal threat the police told the Eagle.

Wichita police spokesman Charley Davidson confirmed to the paper that the department is investigating the threat and did not as of Friday evening believe that other officials had been targeted in the case.

The case is the latest example of how President Donald Trump’s months-long tirade against masks, mocking officials who wear them while refusing to wear one himself has appeared to promote sometimes violent consequences."

Proud Boy Alan Swinney denied release, described as a 'lightning rod' for violence

Source: The Oregonian

By Maxine Bernstein | The Oregonian/OregonLive

"Self-proclaimed Proud Boy Alan J. Swinney, accused of firing a paintball gun at counterprotesters and aiming a revolver at others with his finger on the trigger in downtown Portland, remains in custody with a $534,000 bail after a judge denied his motion for release.

Swinney, 50, has pleaded not guilty to a 12-count indictment on charges including second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful use of mace, pointing a gun at another person and menacing.

The indictment alleges Swinney used a paintball gun and mace or a similar substance during downtown demonstrations on Aug. 15 and Aug. 22. It also alleges he pointed a revolver during the Aug. 22 demonstration.

Multnomah County prosecutors said Swinney’s bail shouldn’t be reduced, citing his social media posts where he’s called the conflict between right-wing and left-wing activists a “civil war” and bragged about his access to guns. He also pledged on social media that “it will be hazardous to your health” if anyone confronted him, prosecutors said.

Swinney, who has the words “Proud Boy” tattooed on his forearm, also admitted after his arrest that he drew a Ruger 357 Magnum revolver during the Aug. 22 protest in the city, the prosecutors wrote."
