100 DAYS OUT: TRUMP IN DEEP TROUBLE

Trump Faces Political Headwinds With Election 100 Days Away
Joe Biden’s campaign is eager to keep the final months of the campaign focused squarely on Trump.

"WASHINGTON (AP) — With the November election 100 days away, more Americans say the country is heading in the wrong direction than at any previous point in Donald Trump’s presidency, putting the incumbent in a perilous position as his reelection bid against Democrat Joe Biden enters a pivotal stretch.

A new poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research also finds Trump’s approval for his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic falling to a new low, with just 32% of Americans supportive of his approach. Even Trump’s standing on the economy, long the high water mark for the president, has fallen over the past few months after seeming ascendant earlier this year.

Those political headwinds have sparked a sudden summer shift in the White House and the Trump campaign. After spending months playing down the pandemic and largely ignoring the virus’ resurgence in several states, Trump warned this past week that the situation is likely to get worse before it gets better. After repeatedly minimizing the importance of wearing masks to limit the spread of the virus, Trump urged Americans to do exactly that. And after insisting he would press forward with a large campaign convention in August, the president announced that he was scrapping those plans.

Trump’s abrupt about-face underscores the reality of the situation he faces just over three months from Election Day. Even as he tries to refocus his contest with Biden on divisive cultural issues and an ominous “law and order” message, Trump’s reelection prospects are likely to be inextricably linked to his handling of the pandemic and whether voters believe the country will head back in the right direction under his leadership.

The AP-NORC poll makes clear the challenge ahead for Trump on that front: 8 in 10 Americans say the country is heading in the wrong direction. That’s more than at any point since Trump took office. The poll also finds just 38% of Americans say the national economy is good, down from 67% in January, before the pandemic upended most aspects of everyday life.

Biden’s campaign is eager to keep the final months of the campaign focused squarely on Trump, confident that the former vice president can emerge victorious if the contest is a referendum on whether the current commander in chief has succeeded during his four years in office.

“People are sick and tired of a government that is divided and broken and unable to get things done,” said Kate Bedingfield, Biden’s deputy campaign manager. “What people feel like they’re getting from Trump right now is a hodgepodge mess of self-interested political talk.”

The past few months have proved to be beneficial for Biden’s campaign. He managed to swiftly consolidate the Democratic Party in ways Hillary Clinton, the party’s 2016 nominee, struggled to do. Biden’s fundraising, a weakness for him in the primary, has surged, allowing his campaign to build out infrastructure and start ad spending in both traditional battleground states and more aspirational targets, including Texas and Georgia."

RE: BIG 100 Day Countdown to Trump's complete political defeat - BLUE WAVE UPDATES:
chuckle This shows the extent of the Trump re-election problems in a nut shell.

The Reagan Foundation Wants Nothing To Do With Trump’s Fundraising Appeals
Republican National Committee Communications Director Michael Ahrens said that the foundation’s objections “came as a surprise.”

"The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute has demanded that President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign and the Republican National Committee stop using the 40th president’s image and name for fundraising.

The complaint involved a fundraising email that offered commemorative coins featuring the late president and Donald Trump, implying an important link between the men.

“We own the likeness of President Reagan and they used his image for a coin without our consent,” Melissa Giller, chief marketing officer for the foundation, told The Hill. “We called the RNC and asked them to cease and desist the use of President Reagan on the coin, and they agreed.”

Foundation officials were moved to action after a Trump fundraising email went out last week with the subject line, “Ronald Reagan and Yours Truly.”

In exchange for a $45 donation, contributors were promised a “limited edition” set of coins, one with an image of Reagan and another of Trump. They were mounted with a 1987 photograph of Reagan and Trump shaking hands in a standard White House receiving line, according to the Washington Post.

The coins symbolize an “important time in our Nation,” the email said. “This year, in addition to being re-elected as YOUR President, it also marks the 40th anniversary of our Nation’s 40th President, Ronald Reagan.”

Proceeds were to go to the Trump Make America Great Again Committee, a joint fundraising operation of the Trump campaign and the RNC.

Foundation officials are attempting to determine how many coins may already have been distributed, and are still considering how to address the suggested association between the presidents.

The coins were still being offered to donors late Saturday.

The Reagan Foundation, which runs the Reagan Presidential Library near Los Angeles, has the sole rights to Nancy and Ronald Reagan’s names, likenesses and images. Officials claim they have the power to block the use of images in the public domain from being used for commercial gain and political endorsements."

RE: BIG 100 Day Countdown to Trump's complete political defeat - BLUE WAVE UPDATES:
Cash-strapped House Republicans furious with Jared Kushner for blocking RNC help: report

"According to a report from the Washington Post, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has been pleading for money from the Republican National Committee to help bolster the struggling campaigns of some of his colleagues in the House — only to be ignored.

Following the “Blue wave” 2018 midterm election that resulted in the Republican Party losing control of the House, McCarthy has been attempting to stop the bleeding in 2020 in what is expected to be a high-turnout election with an embattled Donald Trump at the top of the ticket.

The report notes that McCarthy has asked the RNC which is flush with cash for a check for the National Republican Congressional Committee multiple times, only to be given a cold shoulder as the RNC focuses on keeping Trump in office.

The roadblock for the frustrated McCarthy reportedly is Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.

“McCarthy specifically has asked Jared Kushner, President Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser, to make a financial commitment to the House GOP, according to several officials familiar with the discussions, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to freely describe private conversations,” the report states. “But Kushner, who oversees such decisions and has a greater say than RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, has refused thus far, the officials say. While the Trump campaign and the RNC have brought in record amounts of money, some Trump officials see donating to the House as a wasteful investment as the GOP’s chances of reclaiming the majority sharply deteriorate.”"

RE: BIG 100 Day Countdown to Trump's complete political defeat - BLUE WAVE UPDATES:
Reminds me of Hillary and how she was supposed to win.

Here's your blue wave, IT NEVER HAPPENED!
And it won't happen this time either.

Why the President's Party Loses Seats in Midterm Elections

Some people seem to think that Donald Trump lost a lot of seats in his first midterm.
The average is higher and Obama lost a lot more. No one screamed red wave when Obama did so bad, they blamed it on racism. Problem in other recent democrats did worse that Trump too.

In other words, there was no blue wave. It was just a ripple, smaller then for other recent midterms.

Quote:Modern midterm election results include:

In 2018, Republicans lost 39 seats—41 in the House while gaining two in the Senate—two years after the election of Republican President Donald Trump. With Trump as president, Republicans held both houses of Congress and the White House, and Democrats hoped to elect enough members of Congress to thwart their agenda. They managed only to secure the House.

In 2010, Democrats lost 69 seats—63 in the House and six in the Senate—while Democratic President Barack Obama was in the White House. Obama, who signed an overhaul of the nation's health care system that was deeply unpopular among Tea Party Republicans, later described the midterm results as a "shellacking."

In 2006, Republicans lost 36 seats—30 in the House and six in the Senate—while Republican President George W. Bush was in office. Voters had grown weary of the war in Iraq and took it out on Bush, one of only three presidents whose party has picked up seats in midterms since World War II. Bush called the 2006 midterms a "thumpin.'"

In 1994, Democrats lost 60 seats—52 in the House and eight in the Senate—while Democrat Bill Clinton was in office and the opposing party, led by conservative firebrand Newt Gingrich, orchestrated a successful "Republican Revolution" in Congress with its "Contract With America."

In 1974, Republicans lost 53 seats—48 in the House and five in the Senate—while Republican President
Gerald Ford was in office. The election was held just months after President Richard M. Nixon resigned from the White House in disgrace amid the Watergate scandal.

In the last few elections, at least, Democrats tend to do far worse than Republicans.

RE: BIG 100 Day Countdown to Trump's complete political defeat - BLUE WAVE UPDATES:
Trump’s knows he going to lose and he’s scooping up as much cash as he can before he’s ousted: ex-White House official

"President Donald Trump is violating the U.S. Constitution with his efforts to personally enrich himself while in office, a top ethics watchdog explained on MSNBC on Saturday.

“President Trump is spending the weekend at his golf resort in Bedminster, New Jersey, but it’s his golf course in Scotland raising questions about potential conflicts of interest,” MSNBC anchor Lindsey Reiser reported.

“President Trump this week denied reports that back in 2018 he pressured the U.S. ambassador to the U.K. to get the British Open golf tournament at his Turnberry property,” she explained.

Reiser explained Trump’s pattern.

“In the wake of a pandemic that has crippled the nation, this is a story you may have heard little about, though it might sound familiar, that’s because just last year, the White House chose the Trump National Doral resort in Miami as the site of a G-7 meeting. After intense criticism, the administration backed off the location,” she reminded. “Last fall, in an official visit to Ireland, Vice President Mike Pence and his entourage of Secret Service stayed at trump’s resort in Doonbeg, that despite the fact that the vice president’s meetings were 180 miles away in Ireland’s capital of Dublin. Adding to that, a New York Times count of 275 times the president has visited his family-owned golf courses since taking office.”

For analysis, Reiser interviewed Richard Painter, who was the White House chief ethics attorney in the George W. Bush administration.

“This request for the British Open, unethical, is it unconstitutional?” Reiser asked.

“It’s definitely unconstitutional, this is a violation of the emoluments clause of the Constitution,” Painter replied. “The founders were very intent that no one who holds a position of trust and confidence with the United States government ought to be permitted to receive profits and benefits from foreign governments.”

“Clearly unconstitutional, he has been soliciting emoluments around the globe, it’s been going on for a long time, and it needs to be shut down,” Painter explained.

“I think he knows he’s on the way out the door and he’s going to take as much as he can off the table, and as much as he can between now and January 20th,” Painter said."

RE: BIG 100 Day Countdown to Trump's complete political defeat - BLUE WAVE UPDATES:
‘He’s kind of co-opted the party’: Trump-Republican defectors in Texas could tip the state in Biden’s favor

"While the Cook Political Report still has Texas as a “lean red” state in its 2020 Electoral College Ratings, a Quinnipiac poll released last week showed former Vice President Joe Biden leading President Donald Trump 45% to 44% among registered voters. And according to the Houston Chronicle, a decisive number of anti-Trump Republicans could be contributing to Biden’s lead in the state.

Jacob Monty, an immigration attorney in Houston, became a Republican years ago — attributing his party affiliation to an affection for the Bush family.

“I never had to apologize for them,” Monty told the Chronicle. “I always felt welcome. I never had to explain, ‘Oh, what Bush meant was …’”

“It was very easy to be a Republican,” he said. Now, he worries Trump’s impact on the party’s agenda will doom the future of the Grand Old Party.

“His whole persona is white nationalism,” Monty said of Trump “He’s not going to ever adopt the mainstream Republican position. What’s scary is there is no mainstream Republican position, because he’s kind of co-opted the party.”

Monty briefly served on Trump’s National Hispanic Advisory Council in 2016, but left in August, before Trump was elected to office.

“The fundamental policies that make people a Republican — American exceptionalism, limited government, free trade, free enterprise — no one’s talking about those,” Monty told the Chronicle. “Those aren’t Trump values, for sure.”

Abel Guerra, who works with Monty on The Lincoln Project’s Texas leadership team, argued “Trump has been emboldened to normalize bigotry and use it as a strategy for his benefit.”

“It is our duty to stop him“ Guerra said."

Because the Republicans currently in office are more interested in staying there than upholding the Constitution and Rule of Law. There is more than enough proof of his guilt for multiple convictions.
