Archaeologist claims 3,000-year-old clay heads found in Israel depict Yahweh
Not very human if you ask me.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/...claim.html
A handful of 3000-year-old 'male' clay heads unearthed in Israel may reveal the earliest depiction of God's face, an archaeologist says.
The figurines were excavated along side small horse statues and represent a bearded man with a flat-topped head, protruding features, ear holes for jewelry and topped with a crown.
The controversial claim comes from professor Yosef Garfinkel, who references Bible scriptures of God riding a horse to add weight to this theory.

Hmmm, but by whom?
Quote:Although no single biblical passage contains a complete definition of idolatry, the subject is addressed in numerous passages, so that idolatry may be summarized as the worship of idols or images; the worship of polytheistic gods by use of idols or images; the worship of created things (trees, rocks, animals, astronomical bodies, or another human being); and the use of idols in the worship of God (YHWH Elohim, the God of Israel).[2] In the New Testament covetousness (greed) is defined as idolatry.[3] When the commandment was given, opportunities to participate in the honor or worship of idols abounded, and the religions of Canaanite tribes neighboring the Israelites often centered on a carefully constructed and maintained cult idol.[4] However, according to the book of Deuteronomy the Israelites were strictly warned to neither adopt nor adapt any of the religious practices of the peoples around them.[5]

That was a big no-no.

Are you suggesting, "It was aliens?". I get that, however, idol worship was part of the 10 commandments, and was alleged to have taken place well earlier than 3 thousand years ago. Just 'sayin.
Quote:Dating the Ten Commandments involves an interpretation of their purpose. Some scholars propose a date between the 16th and 13th centuries BC because Exodus and Deuteronomy connect the Ten Commandments with Moses and the Sinai Covenant between Yahweh and Israel. For those who regard the Ten Commandments as an epitome of prophetic teachings, the date would be some time after Amos and Hosea (after 750 BC).

So, my question to you, is, who were the sinners that did that?
Moses coined, Yaweh, as the name of God to his people, He handed down the commandments, that forbid graven images and idol worship.

RE: Archaeologist claims 3,000-year-old clay heads found in Israel depict Yahweh
If you want to know what kind of MONSTER this god was just read Numbers, Leviticus, Deuteronomy, and Exodus. Moses and Aaron were totally afraid of him, especially after he killed Aaron's two sons for making a mistake in the burnt offering. Moses says to Aaron afterwards:
The Sin of Nadab and Abihu
1Now Aaron’s sons Nadab and Abihu took their censers, put fire in them and added incense, and offered unauthorized fire before the LORD, contrary to His command. 2So fire came out from the presence of the LORD and devoured them, and they died before the LORD.
And Moses said unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons, Uncover not your heads, neither rend your clothes; lest ye die, and lest wrath come upon all the people: but let your brethren, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which the LORD hath kindled.

RE: Archaeologist claims 3,000-year-old clay heads found in Israel depict Yahweh
Just because I'm feeling contrarian today..
---
The Canticles, though apparently no more than a collection of village love-songs, were officially interpreted by the Pharisee sages of Jesus's day as the mystical essence of King Solomon's wisdom, and as referring to the love of Jehovah for Israel; which is why in the Anglican Bible they are interpreted as 'Christ's love for his Church'. The fact is that originally they celebrated the mysteries of an annual sacred marriage between Salmaah the King of the year and the Flower Queen, and their Hellenistic influence is patent. -Robert Graves, "The White Goddess".
TL;DR:
The god of Israel is himself a work of literature, binding together the power of all the oracles they had learned about in Babylon and from the Greeks. People can only believe their attempt is special because, ahem, they burnt all the books they didn't like.

"controversial claim" = just another theory~
it could've been anything.

Obviously not. This "theorist" is uneducated, or a lying troll one or the other.
Yahweh is smooth, round, resinous, it's Satan who's jagged, square, vitreous.
